So an actual "Scrummaging Stat"? If this was indeed included, then there would be 5 stats. 3 of these would be out of 20 and 2 out of 100. That adds up to 260, and the person making the registration can only use 100 points. People who want to be decent in the scrum and kick, such as Bedsey, will then be ridiculously poor in either attack or defense, or pretty poor in both.

I like this more. Considering it involves line-outs, rucks, mauls, scrums etc. it would be a more worthwile stat on the registrations than simply a Scrummaging Stat. I feel this is definately a good idea, and I was actually struggling with which area to use out of Attacking and Defending when taking Scrummaging ability.

If you can think of a good name for the stat, and how I could make sure that people won't be ridiculously bad in the loose if they want to scrummage and kick, then I will get the programmer to implement it.

    Can't be good at everything

I think the way round things for a Bedsey would be to have an extra innate ability that would give him a boost in the loose to cover his deficiency in attack/defense to some extent.

    You'd have:

    Attack (0-100)
    Defense (0-100)
    Kicking in play(0-20)
    Place Kicks(0-20)
    Set Piece Strength (0-20)

So, an all-rounder might have to go for 10 kicking in play, 10 SPS and then split the remainder as he wishes in Attack & Defense.

Set Piece Strength implyes that it doesn't cover rucks and mauls...

I get your point actually, and I definately like it. I'll have a think about it.

  5. Escath LE Schaw

I don't see why we need to accommodate for people like that at all. You can't be good in open play, in set pieces, in kicking and everything else at once. The whole point of registrations such as these is for you to choose what you want to be good at and give up on other aspects.

Yeah. I'm not so sure about rucks and mauls anyway. They're 'open play' in many ways and could be more easily covered by the main attack & defense stats.

Effectively, this should be a stat that only forwards would use. Pretty much like the kicks in play will (in all likelihood) only be used by backs.

    I guess...

And actually, I suppose it is a good thing, to be able to virtually custom make your rego.

But which stats do you recommend are affected by this "Super Set Piece Strength"?

  8. Escath LE Schaw

    Lineouts, scrummaging?

  9. Eds E Ames

There are Strength, Technique stats as well, in the sim...

  10. Escath LE Schaw

I think you should take a leaf out of EA Rugby's book and actually have separate attributes for scrummaging and lineouts.

But the player can't choose these in the sign-up? The extra stat would be to allow the player to decide whether they'd be a player who attempts to win set pieces or be more useful in open play.

  12. Eds E Ames

There is an attribute for Scrummaging, but not for Lineouts.

Because the lineout is made up of three stages, the throw, the jump and the catch, maybe it should just affect those stats?

  13. Escath LE Schaw

    Yeah, do that then.

This new sim should be awesome.

We don't want to make registration too complicated though...

  16. Escath LE Schaw

What's wrong with a more complicated sign up? It gives control to each individual over what they want to build their player to be like.

  17. Gazza GJ Weaver

Complicated rego's would be mean, have tons of choices etc.

  18. Pantherus KP Glensor

Complicated rego means many rego mistakes will happen and people will try and change them, not to mention that new people trying to join won't know what the **** to do.

  19. MatthewJay TA Miokovic

    The more complicated the better.

  20. Escath LE Schaw

I'd much rather be able to tailor my player exactly how I want to than to have a few loose terms like "attack" or "defense" determining what kind of player I am.
