LOL! Has anyone else noticed that was the most hundreds Herd has scored in a season. why isn't he in the NSW team?
Got some big wickets but also got some shit ones, your 76 was just as important as your bowling performance tbh but Herd was the best player on the day. Guess it comes down to the argument of whether a winning performance is better than a losing one or because it's an individual award result shouldn't matter. We all know what you'll go for but each to their own.
Why though? Herd was clearly the best player on the field. Not his fault that the other 10 people in his team couldn't perform better.
It's the general rule of thumb in cricketing MotM's. Remember when Ponting got given MotM in the world record breaking OD game against the Saffers? He handed it over to Herschelle Gibbs, as it was Gibbs that won them the match.
Just the way I've always thought it should be done. If you make it to the finals you should have a solid squad around you so 1 individual shouldn't be forced to stand up like Herd did and have minimal support from the other batsmen. Whereas Luffers stood up and got support from others hence us making a healthy total. It's like having a devestating HB in rugbyleague making all these linebreaks but noone there for him to pass to score the try hence they lose. I'm well aware most will disagree just the way I think of finals MOTM.
