So many quality saves. Yeah he'll go

    Paper talk, Welbeck - Spurs.

    Welbeck is a dog.

I think he's learned this season that it doesn't matter how badly Rooney or RVP play, or how well he plays when they're out injured. Ferguson picked his teams on merit. When Rooney had a bad season in his last year, Welbeck got a run in the team. Under Moyes, if Roon and RVP are fit, they both start up front, because they're the big names. He didn't even sub Rooney off in a CL quarter-final when he literally, by Moyes's admission, "couldn't kick a ball properly." You've got to want out of a club like that.

That said, Spurs aren't a great match. Not enough goals in the rest of the team to have a non-prolific striker like Welbeck. Would fit in really well at Arsenal imo.

He scored a fair few at Sunderland when he was the main man with a midfield who are set up to feed him. I liken him to Andy Cole who's stats were massively overinflated by the sheer number of chances put on a plate to him by Scholes, Becks and Giggs. When actually he was pretty average (hence no England career)

But Cole offered little else, apart from that one season where him and Yorke were good. He kept falling out with players too. Guy I lived with met him once and said he was the biggest cunt he'd ever met.

Welbeck is very versatile and has a better work rate than pretty much any other forward in the division. He's a great player to have around and losing him is kind of disastrous for United. But the club is so fucked up that I can't blame him, I wouldn't want to stay either.

Dont get me wrong I love Welbeck, but I think he's more useful to us in a supporting role atm because we dont have a team built around getting him goals

I'd like to see Welbeck at either arsenal or Liverpool would fit in well

  10. Uppercut CB Faldo

You're a cunt for even suggesting we sell him to Liverpool.

Hopefully he'll stay now that the hideous ginger cloud hanging over Old Trafford has fucked off.

I wouldnt be surprised if the Welbeck story was the final straw. The big names are one thing but a United homegrown boy who's dear to United fans wanting out and touted to go to a side with lesser history and the same position in the league is a big kick in the balls

Even Fergie bought RVP last season after Welbeck had a decent season before that playing as #9 ahead of Rooney/Berbatov.

And most of last season SAF played him as a wide man, more than this season in fact where has had chances as number 9 ahead of Chicharito too.

Word in the Independent is that they wanted to sack him months ago but needed to wait until 4th was mathematically impossible to save money on his payoff.

  14. Uppercut CB Faldo

Sure, but that was on merit. Last season he wasn't up to it as a striker but this season he's been better.

It's not so much not getting picked as not getting picked when you feel that you should be. There's nothing worse than a manager who continually picks players ahead of you on reputation when they're clearly phoning it in.

Haha, yeah I was thinking that.

In fairness though Rooney has been our best outfield player this season and RvP has conistently scored goals when he's played, even if his performances have been below par. The thing that has been glaringly obvious though is we've played better when only one of them has played and they haven't gelled as a unit in the way Rooney and Welbeck have in the past

  17. Uppercut CB Faldo

Yeah and there have been so many games where we've been desperate for Welbeck's pace up front but he hasn't come on, or when his pace has been causing a lot of problems but Moyes has brought him off and left a horribly underperforming Rooney on.

He definitely has a legitimate case that he deserved a lot more minutes up front.

I facepalmed hard when I saw he was on the bench against Everton in place of Nani or Kagawa. He was exactly what we needed

    January Window

Not creating a new thread for this, but might be interesting to do the same thing for the January window.

Basically, for your side I want you all to name (within the scope of realism):

    - Of any player, the one you'd most like to see your side sign.

Godin, Boateng, Ramos, Varane, etc. You get the gist, world class centre backs. More realistically someone like Höwedes probably wouldn't be impossible, especially as Schalke are in for Nastasic, who I wouldn't mind signing either.

    - Of all the rumours, which one do you hope is most true.

There were Laporte rumours, but I don't know if any of them had any real substance to them. Schneiderlin and Cabaye probably my favourites from the rumours that have a decent chance of coming through.

    - The one player being rumoured to leave that you'd most to keep.

How nice is it that the answer to this is no one?

    - The one player you believe is most expendable and would not mind seeing go/being pushed towards the door.

Podolski. I like him enough, but he's a high earner and he doesn't contribute much apart from good finishing against mid table and worse clubs. His departure could help fund CB/DM holes.

    Varane

Varane, but those rumours have died down lately

The one player being rumoured to leave that you'd most to keep.
De Gea. I'd give him £300k/week to get him to stay if thats what it took - hell he's deserved that kind of money as much as anyone else over the last 18 months

    Anderson obvi
