Just checked Irfan Pathan, and he's averaged 20.87 and 18.81 over the last two seasons with the ball and 38.75 and 37.00 with the bat. He might be a decent option to keep, given where we grabbed him in the draft.
Ged made a very good point that with more teams in the compo, you've got to be better off keeping the maximum number of players as there's no chance you'd be able to get, say, an equivalent player in round 10, 11 or 12 as you did in the first draft. If we're keeping Kuhn, Ryder & Pathan, is there anyone else you'd consider keeping?
On the flip side, a few teams have folded so there are so top players on the market. I think that logic only really lends itself to not keeping your Rounds 1 and 2 picks, rather than keeping less than five, though. Unless you picked complete duds, it's hard to imagine you'll get a better Round 12 or 13 pick than what you've already got when you consider they'll be an extra 66 players taken by then.
Benkenstein, Powar & Fulton were our last three picks. Powar is probably a half decent pick. As I said earlier, Benkie had a shite season this year. I'll check out Fulton now, but he's a flake anyway. Fulton: This year 27.20, last year 38.38... Hasn't really average over 40 since 06/07. Not really any great shakes there.
Right, Fungie my lad, if we're keeping five, I reckon we should plump for Jesse Ryder Heino Kuhn Irfan Pathan Dale Benkenstein Ramesh Powar Thoughts? Do you have any idea what round we picked these chaps in?
As I am such a nice guy... Jesse Ryder Rd 3 Heino Kuhn Rd 8 Irfan Pathan Rd 7 Dale Benkenstein Rd 10 Ramesh Powar Rd 11
