Brisbane strikers ftr, and they won a premiership whilst he was doing it. The Bullets played basketball.

Dang it! I remember watching that final juggling a soccer in my lounge room as a 9 year old, am I right in saying he scored a goal?

Can't really remember, but I went to the game which was at suncorp.

They got a crowd of like 45,000 people in Brisbane for it... for a domestic Soccer match.. :|

Yeah people in brisbane are massive bandwagoners, they love successful sports teams, the Brisbane Lions being the perfect example. They had like three fans in brisbane before there first premiership, and if they don't win another soon, that number will probably be back again. I'm wondering how long it will take for the post bennett reign to lead to massive decreases in crowd numbers when the broncs miss the finals a few years in a row...

Where is the evidence that Brisbane fans are more fickle or frivolous than anywhere else?

Saying the Lions had an increase in numbers when they started being successful doesn't prove your point. That is true of virtually all sporting teams on the planet. There are fickle, fair weather supporters everywhere. There are impulsive, impressionable youngsters everywhere.

AFL is not a QLD sport. Just as RL is not a Victorian sport - Were the Storm getting bigger numbers when they were successful as opposed to their earlier, less than brilliant years? Yes.

    Here are graphs:
    http://stats.rleague.com/rl/crowds/melbourne.html
    http://stats.rleague.com/afl/crowds/brisbanel.html

Check out the home crowd numbers. The Storm had greater support in 2000 because they won the comp the year before (their second year in the competition). After that they went down hill from 19,000 to 15,000 in one year. Then from 15,000 to 10,000 in another year. That's almost cutting their home crowd support in half, in less than two years. It stayed around there until 2006 when they finished minor premiers. And since then, as they've become a juggernaut (albeit a cheating one) their support has risen and risen back to where it was ten years earlier. The Brisbane Lions, according to that second graph, didn't have their crowd averages cut in half after their successes in 01-04. They dropped about 6,000 over the next 3 years.

In conclusion, I think you're speaking codswallop.

Broncos fans aren't true fans at all.

    It's called experience you twat.

I'm not saying all brisbane sports fans are fickle, but AFL isn't the only sport where this trend happens in brisbane, it is true in RL (look at all previous GC teams/SQ Crushers) and RU, as well as football. The Lions were just one example.

What's called experience - your minuscule sampling of personal observation? Well, that's very persuasive.

What trend does Brisbane exhibit that others do not, which would warrant scrutiny and criticism? Did I not just show this same phenomenon happens in Melbourne too?

The statistics show you're completely wrong IMO.

Does anybody think he will get a coaching gig in the NRL anymore or is it off to England or somewhere as shit? Personally i dont think he will get a job back in the NRL.
