Bookies would have cleaned up last night! Boak killed me and also didn't think Danger would poll that well
Yeah White's wasn't that impressive IMO. Maybe the coverage made the goal seem more laconic than what it actually was but still.
White's goal was pretty darn good IMO. Even then though Bontempelli's goal deserved to win as it was ridiculous even more so due to the stage of the match.
You see goals like White's once or twice every year, Bontempelli's was a one time only amazing effort. You'll never see a goal like it again, which I think means it should've won. White's was still mightily impressive though.
eagles fans citing priddis's DE being better than dangerfields/kennedy's as reason for him being an elite inside mid. his de is so fucking high compared to those two because he's so incredibly god damn slow that he can't move the ball forward. if every disposal is a handball sideways or backwards it's probably gonna be effective, just not damaging. Danger/Kennedy/other inside mids actually create space for themselves to kick/dispose of it in the direction of the goals so of course there's more potential for it to not be effective. Priddis's statistical output compared to influence on a game is ridiculous.
Generally speaking, contested disposals have a lower rate of efficiency, so I'm not sure I'm on the same page as you on this one.
think you missed my point i wasn't commenting on that or anything, I was just pointing out that DE% is misleading. Like full backs often have the best DE because most of their disposals are uncontested chips. Just like Jackson MacRae's DE is probably better than most outside mids despite him being a worse kick. Priddis's DE isn't reflective of his potency because he never takes a challenging option. Nearly always goes sideways or backwards (because he lacks the sufficient burst required to create separation and space for himself in traffic) with his disposals and traditionally backwards disposals are far less risky and safe. Someone like Dangerfield often uses his pace to create space in traffic then tries to execute a long kick - something Priddis very rarely does. Priddis might get 30 touches, but there's not much damage done with them. Yeah, he gets the ball to perhaps a player with more space outside the contest behind him, but 99% of inside mids can do that - the truly good ones have evasive movement/pace to create space so they themselves can penetrate. Pendlebury, Fyfe, Danger, JPK, Selwood - all move the ball forward predominantly because they're good enough to work themselves through pressure. Priddis can't - similar to the Matthew Boyd types - and good kick or not, that's what holds Priddis back from being an A grader in my eyes.
