I would pick most if not all the Alice in Chains discography of the Layne Staley era.

Came here to say this. AiC should've just broken up when Layne died. Don't like DuVall at all.

Some of his work with Mad Season were good as well.

I enjoy the two newest albums they did with DuVall but none of them come close to the Layne era. You can't beat Dirt and Facelift.

You can't replace someone like Layne, tbh. DuVall did alright, but it's just not the same. Still listen to Dirt every now and then. Great album.

Loved everything in the Layne era. Cantrell and Layne singing in harmony, the metal elements that they brought into most of their songs. Was hearing Man In The Box with just the vocals, and Layne's voice is so powerful. Love listening to Nutshell over and over again. You can just feel the pain and emotion in the song. Easily my favourite grunge band and by miles.

Also recently was reading an article where Concert Hotels were rating the greatest singers in history based on their vocal range, and surprisingly Layne's not on the list.
