Seen Humbug & Suck It And See get a pretty bad rap in some places. Personally think Arctic Monkeys have made four very good albums. Any fans here?
Very good when I saw them live, haven't really listened to their albums much and haven't heard their latest one at all.
Benny got me hooked on their first album when I was like 9 or 10 but haven't listened to them at all for a while.
I'm fan, very good lyrically, catchy guitar behind it and a good full sound overall. Put on a good live show too. Probably give them a 7.5-8/10 as a band over all.
Love them. Top 5 favourite band. Whatever People Say I Am and Favourite Worst Nightmare as two of my all time favourite albums too.
How do you guys rank the albums 1. Whatever People Say I am That's What I'm Not 2. Favourite Worst Nightmare 3. Suck it and See 4. Humbug Tbh 1 and 2 is a close call and so is 3 and 4. The first half of Humbug is better than SIAS but SIAS is stronger overall IMO. Favourite Worst Nightmare is musically superior to the debut but the rawness of that first album, and the down to earth yet highly intelligent lyrics still make me nod and laugh six years later.
They live close to me, and I share friends with a couple of them, but I don't actually like them at all...
Anyone heard the new album? On about my 10th play of the day. It's quality. Right old melting pot of influences. They are defo the band that have come closest to filling the oasis sized hole in my heart that's been there since 09 (obv they were around before then but since then they've pretty much filled the 'fave current band' void)
I dislike this band apart from the first album and select other tracks. They are just really pedestrian IMO, I don't find anything striking or interesting at all. They even made a black sabbath riff sound ball-less on the new album. I don't care if its a b-side, '2013' is the worst song I've ever heard.
yeah I agree. I think their debut is brilliant, but everything since then mediocre at best. it was this generation that sort of dropped the baton in the garage rock revival.
I really enjoyed the early Arctic Monkeys stuff. I'm keen to check out the new album. I honestly didn't know about it until I saw an ad for it before a Youtube video a lecturer showed everyone in a tutorial I had at uni today
Fuck this album is good, Ive had it on repeat for about 2 weeks. Turner is lyrically a genuis, I love how they develop a new kind of sound for each album, the bass lines is this are brilliant.
