In the past month or so I've seen tv on the radio and boy and bear. Both were fantastic. Went to harvest as well which was brilliant, highlights being the national, tv and flaming lips. Have explosions in the sky and death cab coming up in the next few months.
When do you see Explosions in the Sky? I see them on the 16th of December so if you see them before me you must tell me how they are!
I was pretty keen to get there but didnt end up going. I still think that the national are the best live act ive ever seen.
Dead set not interested in seeing Death Cab again at all really. Don't rate anything they've done since a couple of songs off Plans. The only thing I really liked was the intro to the single off their last record. Seen them on their last 3 tours from memory. They're always solid live but their new stuff just doesn't cut it IMO.
Fooeys setlist from there Perth gig, looking foward to Gold Coast show. Setlist: Bridge Burning Rope The Pretender My Hero Learn to Fly White Limo Arlandria Breakout Cold Day in the Sun (Taylor Hawkins vocal) Stacked Actors Walk Monkey Wrench These Days This is a Call In the Flesh (Pink Floyd cover) All My Life Encore: Wheels (acoustic) Best Of You (acoustic) Times Like These (semi-acoustic) Dear Rosemary Breakdown (Tom Petty cover with Tenacious D) Tie Your Mother Down (Queen cover) Everlong
I don't necessarily have a problem with covers, but you'd be paying pretty premium prices for the Foos, and it's not as if they don't have a wealth of their own material to choose from.
I don't think i have seen a international band in concert that dosen't play at least one or two covers, thats not to say they all do but i've been to a few concerts now and that set list is nothing unusual.
Really? Don't think I've been to any big name gigs where they've played more than a single cover. And even then it's been an exception when they've played a cover.
I think it's repetition that probably gets to these bigger bands, playing there own songs every night etc.
Trying to weasel my way into Lucero next month, bloody pissed that 95% percent of gigs I've wanted to go to in America you have to be over 21. If not I've still got Gaslight Anthem in two weeks.
Mmhmm. I can understand that. I haven't been to a massive world tour type show for a while, so that may be the incentive to perform a cover or two.
Went to Muse recently, while they didn't do any covers, they seemed to use a few intro's and outro's from other songs with there own music, Back n Black seems to be one of there favourites.
Yeah. That tends to happen a bit, as does turning outros in to massive muso wig-outs that go on for ages. Even Crowded House did that FFS!!
