Haha, I'm not convinced of this tbh. I am sure there are some incidents where this is true, but there is enough evidence to the contrary to make me wonder...

It's there, we've all seen it. From the player who runs onto a throughball like the pitch is sand whilst the keeper covers twice the distance with ease to get it, the defender who can pull of epic tackles that require severe contortion skills, or the one that got me the other day, the player standing in the area doing fuck all whilst I press the shoot button 7 times, to finaly shoot when the defender in position to block it (though it was Rooney so......)

Either that or it's just really, really shittily programmed

    This.

Haha it's this. Generally speaking if your two options are 'conspiracy' and 'incompetence', it's pretty much always incompetence.

Although tired players are hilariously useless this year, so that ups the end-game bullshit a bit. Need to use the subs.

It's not conspiracy. It's just EA trying to make the game even and competitive. They do it with Need For Speed too. The amount of timea an opponent will crash and i'll fly past them, then 5 seconds later they're right behind me again despite the fact that I have a faster vehicle and haven't dropped below top speed since they crashed is ridiculous. They used to refer to it as "catch up" and you previously had the option of turning it off.

That definitely counts as a conspiracy theory, that they would put in a feature that everyone fucking hates to 'make the game more fun', then deny having done so. Would be a bitch to programme too.

I mean, it says a lot about FIFA players that so many of them believe in it. I think it sort of helps them plug the gap between how good they think they are and their mediocre results. You see it everywhere, especially in real football for some reason, which makes me think they've done a pretty good job. On Poker forums they're called 'rigtards'.

The problem is EA markets FIFA games as being the best and most realistic football game going. However when year on year the game reacts in a way that is unbelievable and defies what could possibly happen in the real world, and does it on a constant and predictable basis (I know the second I've hit a through ball that my player will not get to it by the way his pace becomes non-existant, despite the fact in a real life situation it would've been a perfect ball for them and the keeper would have no chance), it's hard not to think its a deliberate act on EA's behalf

Its why for many years I was a pro-evo over FIFA, because you don't get that feeling anywhere near as much in PES. Don't get me wrong, there are still moments, but they are 10 times worse in FIFA. Its only the licensing that puts FIFA on top IMO, and as I want the realism its enough for me.

How realistic do you want the game? Do you want to play a 90min game and only score 1-2 goals?

Realistic enough to know if I press a button the right action is going to happen. The game only presents me 2 or 3 good through ball opportunities a match, and one or two chances to break one on one with the keeper through link up play - that's realistic IMO. What I don't want is 2/3rds of the through balls being impossible to chase down because my players speed has suddenly been throttled, or 50% of my one on ones being denied by a defender who can moonwalk into tackles.

What they've changed is that stamina reduces much quicker during sprints. If you break the back line 40 yards from goal you'd be guaranteed one on one with the keeper before, these days you'll probably get caught. I kind of like that though. Makes it harder online for people to just run with the strikers all the time and makes it more about picking out runs in the box or, giving it to a wide player just outside the box who can dribble past a couple of players. I think it was Fifa 13 where i just used to score 50% of my goals as counter attacks which was ridiculous.

Definitely an improvement - on career mode after about a season I'd have good enough stamina to just run and run all match, now I'm blowing out of my arse after about 70 mins, so I've had to adapt my game so I'm not chasing down every ball, am holding my position in AM, slowly building the play up with my team mates until I'm in a position to unleash that throughball to the keeper :P

What I do, and recommend everyone does, is to put your wide players as RW/LW instead of RM/LM and to put on the instructions to stay forward and run in behind. It means when you win the ball back you can often hit the channels and basically put them one on one against a CB. Crucial to reserving stamina as well, if you've got a gun wide player you want the bulk of their energy use to be causing havoc for the opposition defence. You don't always have to dribble with them either, wait for your chance to open up, you only need 3 or 4 a game.

I'm usually playing player career mode, so no choice on team selection. So annoying on season 1 when I'm loaned out to a team that doesn't use AM, so I'm stuck in central mid with little attributes to do what I want. I don't do defensive play so I usually leave a huge gap and play as an AM anyway

Have just started a manager mode with WSW in the EPL on legendary. Should be interesting.

Running away with the PL (12 wins and 1 draw in first 13 games) in my 3rd season at Brentford. Probably time to go to legendary...

So, went up to legendary, 1st game is against 2nd place City, win 1-0, go 11 points clear haha. It's definitely going to be much harder though. Can't just dribble past people really easily.

    Did this on legendary

Two points clear at the top with six games to play and in the semis of the FA Cup.

    Wow, that's impressive

Form seems to be a pretty big thing. Won the next two games comfortably but just lost two in a row. Luckily United still slipped up and I'm 2 points clear with two games left.
