Is that 60 mill net or just spending? Because if its the former it won't be too big a deal with Lavezzi and Cavani likely heading out

Btw does anyone else think massive fines are a really stupid punishment for not breaking even?

"You lost money, give us a fuckton more so it's even harder for your club to become sustainable"

Yup. Dreadful, not like UEFA don't have enough money already.

Fines don't count towards future FFP calculations.

Reading that apparently the fine is also going to be spread out over 3 years too. Which seems a little fairer.

It seems that City are going to contest the decision over the squad reduction. That could see them get a pretty hefty penalty if their appeal is rejected. An 18 man squad limit is a huge disadvantage both in the transfer market and ofc the tournament.

But surely they still affect the clubs chances of breaking even, because they have less money to free up, to meet targets?

City being limited to a squad size of 21 for Europe will be tough.

This may be why they implemented fines, any other punishment would be taken to CAS and take three years to actually get anywhere...

City have gotten same sort of penalty as PSG it seems, but are contesting it.

Well yeah, but they won't get fined any more as a direct result. Will be tiny for them anyway

    It's already 25 isn't it?

I wonder how FFP will affect Liverpool's ability to spend this summer. They've reportedly lost £90 mill over the last 2 seasons which would have seen them punished this year if they were in Europe. Realistically now I'd guess they have to make a profit next season if they wish to continue to the CL.

No because fines don't count towards FFP.

apparently the money will be docked from the CL payouts for the next 3 seasons

This makes a lot more sense.

RE this squad reduction, presumably City can still play as many U21s as they like? Or is that rule not in place anymore

Assume it is. The way it works in FM is they have to have trained at your club for 3 years to be eligible to not be registered though. and they'll still need to find 8 homegrown players in the 21.

Though I had heard that last one might be dropped to 4, which is ridiculous seeing as the punishment for not including the right number of homegrown players is having to the number of HG players youre short reduced off your total squad allowance. So it makes the penalty redundant

  17. Furball G Furball

Nah it's 8 homegrown players (players trained in your country for at least 3 years between age 15 and 21), of whom 4 must have been trained at your club.

That's how it works in FM...

The way someone worded it on the radio a few weeks ago implied the 4 from your club wasn't necessarily the case. I always assumed it was that way because of FM but I'm not sure how its enforced in real life.

But U21s still dont need to be registered if theyve trained at your club for 3 years

I remember CM03-04 (last one before the FM breakaway) had a bug so it just purely based it on age, whereas in real life it would be age at the start of the season. Meant I had a winger who played the first leg away to Inter Milan and was then ineligible for the second as he had a birthday in between

I'm pretty sure U21s don't count towards the overall limit.
