there are no restrictions as to where the players can go. You can have all 18 players on the ball if you really wanted to. Only restrictions are that when the ball is bounced in the middle at the start of a quarter or after a goal, only the 4 players including the ruckman are allowed inside the centre square. Once its bounced anyone can run anywhere.

Well Zohaib, in a game of cricket everybody could field on the leg-side couldn't they? But they don't, because it would be stupid as the rest of the field would be exposed.
