Hall of Fame?

Thought it might be a good idea to form some sort of Cricsim Hall of Fame.

It would give credit to the legends of the site and give a bit of an introduction to who the best players are/were for new members who join up - something that is a little bit hard to do when it comes to older guns, since they aren't making as many runs now compared to previous seasons and are therefore not as highly ranked.

Forgive me if there is already one that I've been unable to find

    Seems a good idea.

I think we've had this idea before and I can't for the life of me think why we don't have one yet haha

There isn't one right now, but i think it's been discussed before somewhere. Good Idea though.

Sounds good to me. What would be the criteria for someone making it into the HoF though?

I thought that a panel of respected members could decide that, but I'd assume outstanding performance, long-time service, significant contributions etc. would be the things that make players stand out - not up to me to decide though!

Yeah, I think that should be fine. I think it should be focused on their performances in the sim though as opposed to something like long-time service. Someone could have been at a single club but may have done nothing much of note.

Heef to be in the panel.

I reckon, say starting from the end of season 5 we retrospectively nominate 2 people per season based on all their seasons before. it'd mean we'd have say 14 or so in there now which is about right.

    So no Cribb then.

Agreed Himannv that it should be focused around sim performances. I guess in many cases long service can amount to nothing in the sim, so scrap that idea.

Who qualifies as having enough knowledge to make the selections?

Cribb is the only one who has all the stats in his head so he probably needs to be in there. I would have suggested that all club presidents be in the panel but that would not be fair to the clubs which folded. There are a few others who have been here since day 1 so perhaps some of them would be alright.

Every club should nominate one guy to the panel.

Personally like the idea of a Hall of Fame and it has come up previously. Don't really think anyone should be getting into without playing at least around 10 though (unless under exceptional circumstances) as realistically that wouldn't happen in real life.

Not sure if Cribb keeps those records but we can probably have best figures, most wickets in a season, highest scores etc..too.

Then again I don't think we should see people who have 12,000 runs at 40 get in ahead of guys with 7,000 runs at 50 or something

    I.E. Flash - 14,000 runs at 40. 2 50+ seasons out of 12 or something.

    Torres - 9,000 runs at 50.

    Torres should get in.

But history seems to increase the skill of a player.

then again I also know how naive it would be to compare to players from different eras based on a career average - people like torres haven't 'peaked' as forumers so aren't going to decline - whereas all the past legends pretty much will. I'm sure some guys who average 40 now had averaged 50 in their first 5 seasons like torres, too.

I am not saying just because they have played 10 seasons they should just auto get in though. They still need to earn their spot. However, I think longevity is a major factor in people being admitted and for that reason I wouldn't have Torres.

I don't think a Hall of Fame should be something that is rushed into filling up. Only true ATGs should get in.
