Isn't it funny...

... how clubs always fill up no matter how many we seem to have?If I push the teams to go and recruit new players, chase up old ones etc by introducing new teams, they manage to do it.

We have 22 more players play this season compared to last and it's barely been noticeable at all. Despite losing players every offseason due to the break, some who never return and end up lost to the system, we managed to find 22 more players this season than last. And provincial seconds pushed it along too.

CricSim has never been a site that many people just stumble upon; it's one that people are told about and asked to join, so it's amazing that we can keep filling the gaps and getting new members. Gun though.

18 team comp in Season 12 to test my theory, obv.

Allstars and Crab recruiting policies tbh.

Is this some kind of announcement? Or just an epiphany?

How many of those new members stay for a decent amount of time though? I've only really seen a few of them actually post a decent amount. Didn't you have a graph of activity to the site? Has it increased the past month or so compared to previous beginnings of season, etc?

Just an epiphany. I've been thinking a lot about the forum and the simming comps today - how to improve it, expansion theories etc.

Bring in the VicPumas, we'd probably have 15+ signings lined up already.

I stumbled upon cricsim when everyone left Sidhe. Didn't even sign up for the a actual sim for ages.

Yeah, getting more people in from CW has been in vogue of late. It was an untapped goldmine for a while but I didn't want to spam-advertise CricSim to members there for obvious reasons, but since we started back in 2007 or whenever we've slowly got more people from CW by virtue of each new member from CW being mates with someone else from there that no-one else from here was, if you get me.

The original influx was from Sidhe forums with the odd member here or there from CricketWeb, then we had a mini Rleague influx (MF came much later). Provincial cricket was the main cause for recruitment for a while after that though; the Victorian side was filled up largely from TAE members, and then had an influx of British members from the CricketSupplies forum Manero advertised us on. Henry Marshall was determined to bring New Zealand up to standard so he recruited a lot of New Zealanders from PlanetCricket to get them going. CricketWeb's influx of members came through Heath as a driving force more than anything, and it grew stronger with the CricketWeb Crowd thread, the Ravens recruitment drive, the Allstars reintroduction and finally the Crabs.

I do wonder where we'll get our next lot of members from; we've probably tapped out "neighbouring forums" as such, and we'll just pick up the odd member here and there from those places as they sign up to them. Interesting to think about anyway though - provincial and club bosses here and very resourceful, but they only tend to find new members when they're struggling for numbers. If they put that effort into getting new members regardless of standing we'd probably have a third grade comp by now and 14 BS teams. :p

We need WogBoy to be Vic president.

Mousey/other Victorians did a great job finding a stack of Vics a couple of weeks ago when I told them they didn't have enough players to field a PCDIY Cup team.

quite a few of us came from blackout as well, don't know who started that but they almost certainly regret a decision which has lead to rego being on the forum

Really need to try and get new Provinces going then? If one of the few Yarpies on here decided to go on a decent recruitment drive and try and get an associate province together, that would be an obvious space. I've tried looking at South African sports forums in the past, but either I've not looked hard enough or the Yarps aren't particularly into forumming.

Didn't you come via the breakaway Seasonal Rugby forum?

  15. Verigoat S Verigotta

    Same thing

We joined that from blackout and then from there to here

We didn't join that sr thing from nowhere

South Africa seems a hard market to break into as such; I tend to think we're more likely to start picking up more people from Western Australia/South Australia/Victoria if we get a decent AFL section/culture going. That said I always thought that about the future of the Asian side as well, and if you told me during Season 9 that Asia would not only have full provincial status in Season 11 but would beat Victoria 3-0 in a series I'd have laughed.

  17. Cribbage RG Cribb

Wasn't that pretty much just you + Doog + CCG though?

  18. Chewie JA Chewie

I don't think people would want Asia to split into separate provinces due to the people that'd bring...

Tbf if it wasn't for Rego insisting for me to try this place out I wouldn't have come.

  20. HeathDavisSpeed HT Davis

See, even Rego provides some positives now and again.
