    Speaking of current female artists, Lana Del Rey makes Lorde look like the amateur she is. I suppose latitude is in order given the latter's age but the praise she gets is hugely undeserved IMO.

    Del Rey is repetitive and a pretty mediocre lyricist by traditional standards (by today's standards she's probably fucken James Joyce), but she's a much better songwriter than Lorde. I take the latter's criticism of Del Rey for being like so many other pop artists and talking about wealth, not that Del Rey is a particularly gross offender on this point (her MO is more cliched romance). However, Lorde, if she paid attention, could glean a thing or two from Del Rey about musicianship.

    Lana Del Ray is probably my mosted hated artist at the moment (outside of rap rubbish). Can't stand her personally. That video games song was cringeworthy and her latest is just as bad.

    Yeah MF has picked an absolute dud to back in Del Ray.

    If he was serious he would have jumped on the Regina Spektor, Laura Marling or Jenny Lewis.

    Yeah I'm harsh on Del Ray but she's not a great songwriter at all compared to a plethora of other female artists atm.

    Number 1 is between the bolded, probably go to Rufus. I absolutely hated that Georgio Maroder song when I first heard it but now think it's epic. Think it's a pretty good list with good variety. Might change a tad when I go through the list.
