Yeah don't derail what could be a pretty good thread with bias. It's no better than suggesting Andrew Swallow. Selwood's a good player and a good leader, and yeah, he's courageous - but, is he really in the 22 most courageous players of the modern era? fuck no. There are hundreds of players who have never shied away from a contest so Selwood's no different in that regard, except he often causes the events that make him look courageous; a normal tackle is turned into a 'high tackle where he looks so courageous' because he'll duck his head. He's courageous, but he's not in the 22 most courageous players of the era. I do think there's almost a 'line' where you're just courageous if you're above it and varying levels below it - like it's hard to be more or less courageous if you've got a certain level of courage. Selwood's above it tbf. Speak to me at the end of his career, he'll probably make it then.
If it's your right to select Selwood, then I can nominate dudes who don't have a great sample size & play for my own club. Rory Sloane worth a shot. Never shied away from a contest and plays with the epitome of courage.
maybe not so much for their efforts on the field but i'd say jason mccartney and adam ramanauaskas would be two of the more courageous guys going around.
huh? top 5? Honestly. Geelong fans on here are no different to North fans except for the fact that they've got success to back up their bias (which is pretty fucking valid) All I'm saying is Selwood needs to continue this path for his whole career to make this 22. I was more annoyed at Jager calling him the captain though. He's not the most fucking courageous player of all time. Such obvious bias and that just set me off and I hated selwood as a result. tl;dr fuck you jager.
