Basically, I'm a bit torn as to how exactly to schedule each week, so I thought I'd ask which my valued members preferred. Option A: Play your Horrigan Cup (one day cricket) and Bannerman Shield/Avo Lovers Cup (five-day cricket) matches on the same day. Have a day dedicated to your team's game each round and play all three grades on that day. For example: SUNDAY ALC - Ravens v Pumas HC - Ravens v Pumas BS - Ravens v Pumas MONDAY ALC - Cyclones v Gamblers HC - Cyclones v Gamblers BS - Cyclones v Gamblers TUESDAY ALC - Stickies v Saders HC - Stickies v Saders BS - Stickies v Saders WEDNESDAY ALC - Stingrays v Vipers HC - Stingrays v Vipers BS - Stingrays v Vipers Option B: Play all your Horrigan Cup (one day cricket) matches on Sunday. Share a day for your Bannerman Shield/Avo Lovers Cup (five-day cricket) match each round with another match-up. For example: SUNDAY HC - Ravens v Pumas HC - Cyclones v Gamblers HC - Stickies v Saders HC - Stingrays v Vipers MONDAY ALC - Cyclones v Gamblers ALC - Ravens v Pumas BS - Cyclones v Gamblers BS - Ravens v Pumas TUESDAY ALC - Stickies v Saders ALC - Stingrays v Vipers BS - Stickies v Saders BS - Stingrays v Vipers Basically it comes down to - would you like to play both your franchise games on the same day or not?
True if you have one person doing the lineups, I guess. If you have a designated OD selector, though, just knowing you're playing every Sunday is probably a easy thing to follow. Similarly, knowing you're playing on Monday or Tuesday every week as a FC selector would be easier to follow than playing Wednesday one week and Sunday the next.
Playing in two matches in one day will make you not really give as much shit about the 2nd match though.
Well the second match would be the BS match, so it'd probably just make people not care about the Horrigan Cup game. I'm thinking that if I give the Horrigan Cup its own day it might get more of an identity instead of just being a curtain raiser. So I'm leaning towards B myself.
B for mine, only because it means you have something else to look forward to... it will also mean more activity if there are more than two teams playing on one day.
FWIW, it looks like we'll having one round a week with the following structure this season, if we go with B: Sunday - four HC games Monday - two ALC games and two BS games Tuesday - two ALC games and two BS games Wednesday - three PC games Thursday - three RT games Friday - break day Saturday - CricSim Herald Release / break day And for the n00bs/those who have forgotten: BS = Bannerman Shield - five day franchise cricket (first XI) ALC = Avo Lovers Cup - five day franchise cricket (second XI) HC = Horrigan Cup - one day franchise cricket PC = Provincial Championship - five day representative provincial cricket RT = Rossleigh Trophy - one day representative provincial cricket That'll go on for 15 rounds, then we'll have finals etc, and North v South.
