Went to see Dave Gorman on Sunday, was pretty damn good TBH (especially as the ticket was free, can't complain at free comedy!). Has calmed down quite a lot since his googlewhack days, still retains the surreal 'how the fuck did that happen' element to his stories.
I went to see Dave Gorman once a long time ago and someone's mobile phone went off and he went absolutely batshit crazy and demanded that the person be chucked out. It was more bizarre. Generally speaking, I get as pissed off as the next man about a phone going off at a gig or whatever, but he was incandescent with rage.
He does a thing at the begining about photography today with phone camera's compared to yesteryear, gave everyone a photo op, then proceeded to confiscate phones of people taking photo's later. More jovial than being a cock, but very strict on the point. Kinda did fuck off without giving it back too... He is a lot calmer man than 10 years ago, that's for sure. Went pretty much off the rails about the time of the googlewhack thing. Was a guy called Andy Zaltzman playing in the other theatre at the Lowry that night, would've considered going if I didn't have free tickets to the Dave Gorman gig. Heard he's alright.....
Saw Jimmy Carr tonight, fuck he's good. The way he works with the crowd is fantastic. Very quick on his feet in editing his material to suit banter that has gone back and forth.
