State of Origin 2023

It only seems like a huge jump NOW. But we start letting blokes like Taumalolo play Origin, and Ponga play for NZ, which is what these people are calling for and you watch how slippery that slope gets 10, 15, 20 years from now.

Fittler, a current Origin coach, believes Radley should be able to play for NSW, Australia and England. See what happens when that becomes common place.

Meh how die-hard was he if he chose to forfeit playing for NSW?

What? No. Birth has never really come into the equation for Origin. Otherwise Sterlo would have played for QLD and Billy Moore would never have made those Blues sides to get a game.

My take is that if someone satisfies all the eligibility prerequisites, other than having to declare to play for Australia, they should still be able to play.

@NSW...we're going to fuck you again. Nice and slow, ya pricks.

So weird to realise a fullback as good as Dylan Edwards is probably 3rd in line to play no.1 in Origin for NSW. Could make an argument for him being 4th in line.

    That is mental.

Any idea when tickets go on sale? Cant find a date anywhere.

I'm surprised you've fallen for the spin about him being particularly good.

He's not shit. He's just fine. If he played for the Titans there'd probably be occasional calls for him to be dropped. Classic example of 'looks good in a good team' IMO.

Yeh I agree he's the Luke Patten of this era.

I get in this argument with my Panthers supporting mate all the time.
He's not great, he's nothing super special.
    He's just consistently good.
    Low ceiling, high floor.

Yeah mustve fallen for the media spin ayy. Cant just be a respectable disagreement about probably the most consistent Penrith player for the last few years.

Edwards makes more post-contact metres than any fullback in the game. Returns the ball for more metres than any other by a huge margin, is 2nd only to Tedesco for tackle breaks, and makes 220m total a game, which also puts him ahead of the rest. Hes a huge part of why they start so many sets on the front foot and is probably the busiest, best support player in the game.

But I suppose if you think the semi-playmaker fullback is the only one of worth in the modern game, as you have for the last 15 years, you probably would say some fatuous shit about him being a fringe first grader at another club.

He isn't that good. He is 2022 version of Dugan, but in a better side where the fullback isn't required to be creative.

Yeh mhmm. He's Dugan. He's Patten. Blah blah, welcome back to the cricsim echo chamber. What was it, 290m, 1 line break, put Crighton through for a try assist, 3 line break assists, Sattler-esque tackle when the game was already won, sealing the CC medal. Very Josh Dugan...

Lol get throttled for that? At least on RLeague they had the balls to ban you.

  14. Toolman TR Man

how can you get throttled on cricsim?

No idea what you're on about lol. If the site stopped working or something we didn't do anything about it.

    You're allowed to be wrong.

Edwards is way better than I ever gave him credit for, I thought he was useless for a long time.

It's all about balance with him in the team. I could see an argument for him to brought in to replace Tedesco if teddy was injured.

Fittler would probably name Suuali or something rare though.

He is a great metre maker. How do you think he goes with the Titans 6-7-9? How about with Dolphins? Warriors? Probably not very good.
Teddy, Trbo, Latrell are pretty comfortably option 1-3.

I could see a case for Mitchell and Trbo being the centres.
