Lol, I was actually gonna make a Melbourne thread for all matches. Would probably get the same coverage as a single match thread.
Let's be honest here- if you think the Storm were boring before this year then you're gonna turn off your tv when you see them on this year.
That win was unconvincing for mine. Manly absolutely got raped by the referee's in the second half. Jason King getting put on report is bullshit.
Not rating Melbourne as highly as you guys. Very very average in attack, although the defence is still the same.
Yeah they looked to have nothing really. A lot will depend on how Widdop develops. New props went well though.
Norrie was solid, Thompson didn't have much impact and I thought Lowe was pretty poor. Bromwich looked very impressive though. Widdop is a player, quickly developing into one of my favourites.
Sika Manu is gonna have a massive season imo... Such a machine. Storm lacked some decent hole runners tonight
Manu's always been due for a massive season on the proviso that he can stay fit, but that's a massive if as he never does. Chase Stanley should play in the second row when Champion comes back IMO; it'll give them more options for the halves to hit on the fringes. Certainly played well enough to keep his spot anyway.
Was a pretty shit game all round, but thats round 1 for ya. Melbourne did what they had to do to get the two points. I really hate how Hasler moved Foran to the centres when Lyon went off. I mean if ive got two young halves trying to build a partnership together I wouldnt be moving one to the centres and a backrower to the halves. Ive noticed Hasler do it before (last season), to me it says Hasler doesnt see Foran as his long term five-eighth.
