Will be a tough second round match against the number 1 seed. Not a good doubles performance by us though

  2. hen da man HRT Daman

We qualified for the dubs! Hopefully we can do the same sort of damage to the doubles draw as what has happened in the singles.

  3. Arheiner SIA Yates

    Well I suck.

  4. Reagan Wheelson RDP Wheelson

Big matches ahead for myself in both singles and doubles with Downes. Need to come up with a win. :toot:

  5. Lukic L Popovic

All of you care way too much about Doubles.

  6. hen da man HRT Daman

No it's just that we suck at singles and doubles is our only chance.

Huh! O come on Mariner! Force standing in the court against Chowdhuri till the 5th set was possibly the biggest surprise in the short history of TennisSim!

In other news, Popovic ate some more samosas supplied by Niru in the stands.

You got to admit though he does make it a great read...

Singles, Second Round - Top Half

Wes Welker has progressed to the quarterfinals, beating Matt James in five sets. The number one seed started in blazing fashion, blowing his opponent away with some brilliant cross court winners. Welker stepped it up further in the second set, and even his inaccurate serving started to confuse James, who couldn't quite work out where it was going and as a result kept sticking in the net. Welker let James into the match right at the start of the next set though, breaking down with two simple errors in his first game to let James swoop in and get the break. From there, Welker was unable to get back into the set. Strangely enough, the first seed was making more errors than his opponent in this match, more of his points coming from winners during the course of the match. This came back to bite him in the fourth, as James wasn't going wrong very much, gifting him the fourth set. Welker ended up winning the match with a lovely bouncing serve, top edged by his opponent into the crowd. Also through is seed Reagan Wheelson, taking a close match in four over Chris Warrington. Wheelson seemed to control most of the open play, and his opponent the serve with relentless returning, something that the victor couldn't really do. The pair pushed each other to their limits, Wheelson's first two sets were both taken via tiebreaks, separated by Warrington breaking him in the last game to avoid another one. Wheelson then came through in the fourth, breaking down the proverbial wall with a sledgehammer rather than with a spoon. There were also relatively easy wins for Rob Cribb and Os du Toit, pushing aside Brett Hall and Jono Chewie respectively.

    Doubles, First Round
Doubles attracted a lot of attention today, as the unpredictability of the doubles competition continued. The day started off in a less than shocking way, both first seeds H. Davis & T. Lee and English outsiders Chris Warrington & Bruce Force making it through in four sets as expected. Then the shocks started. Haych Bots proved you need to be good to succeed at doubles as he and Jonny Ridd beat Jake Howe & Alex O'Driscoll in straight sets. The trend was continued by Brian Quilty, who helped knock out second seeds Leumas Himann & Joshua Ritchie. Alarmingly, the other seeded pair to play, R. Wheelson & C. Downes, crashed out of the competition after a legitimately good quality match against Australians Henry Daman & Morgan Burridge, although less of a shock as such they'll be disappointed not to make it through with the tournament now wide open. The only other match that wouldn't be classed as an upset was Samuel Yates & Bosh Burger making it through, they'll be looking to go far in this.
