    Still retired myself, always loved playing on the half-back flank or half-forward flank though in my playing days. Was never an exceptionally fast player but had a very accurate kick and a good pair of hands uncontested back in the day (under 14s) so used to love playing the link-up plays along the wing, and being on the receiving end of a lot of passes.

    Now I'm about 6'3 though and have a great overhead mark and kick, so would probably end up playing in a key position if I returned. Used to be absolutely woeful contested though in the day, I had no confidence and used to try and literally avoid marking contests I was so bad. Would back myself to be quite a decent forward though now - somehow my overhead mark just got so much better without even playing or practicing much and I kick within 35m at about 85-90% from between about 60 degrees either side of the goals.

    Copped an 11-goal hiding. Only had 18 blokes to begin with, down to 17 from the second quarter after the umpire raced into a brawl shoving blokes around, then sent one of ours off for shoving back. I was back pocket all day, so at least I got a bit of the ball.

    Ulladulla Dockers Reserve grade Scafl

    Week 1: beat last years premiers by 44 points
    Week 2: Lost to last years wooden spooners by 25 points
    Week 3: lost to last years minor premiers by 80 off (I didn't play, was at a wedding)

    Funny old year thus far, last years spooners should win the comp as they've dropped out of first grade and have a stacked reggies side. Sounds like the boys completed kooked it on the weekend. Should bounce back this weekend with a big win.

    On Satuday we played a side who beat us by 200 points last year.

    Ended up leading the whole day by pretty much a goal. Up by 7 without about 5 minutes left. They snagged a goal, and then a point with about 30 seconds left. Siren went when one of their players had the ball about 30 metres out so we got lucky.

    Decent effort considering they had a massive wind advantage in the last quarter.

    The last two scores the other team had were directly our fullback's fault too. Then after the game he tried to blame everyone else and was having a dip at the side for not winning the game.

    Dominated markers up, obviously. :laugh: I'm also about half a foot taller now. I don't think this is necessarily something you have to be in game to determine.. you can tell how good your overhead mark is just kicking the footy with someone. Contested and pack marks is a bit different.

    Contested/pack marking all comes down to intent imo.

    Last year I pretty much played as the sides ruckman (fairly under-sized) and generally wouldn't commit to going up in contests most of the time because I didn't really have much intensity and thought I was pretty shit at it.

    This year I'm playing alot more up forward and sort of as a swing ruck and I've started clunking a fair few around the ground and in the forward line because now I actually want to mark the ball.

    Took 4 big marks on the half forward line on Saturday and almost got us across the line. :(

    I've really got to start getting my head over the ball and going hard at the footy, still haven't got my timing right after years in league. I go in super hard if it's just me and a bunch of opponents, but I just can't get it right if it's a bit messier with a few of our blokes in there. Probably stems from in juniors I'd sit back a bit more at those break downs and wait for it to spill out messily. Now that it's seniors everyone is a lot more effective at finding that short handpass out the back etc.

    Might I also add that it's a bit weak of all you blokes to hang up your boots around that 18 year old age bracket. Clubs depend on a bit of youth coming through and playing footy and getting on the piss with team mates at that age are some of the best times you'll have.

    Also some of the connections you make with older players/coaches etc can really help you out in life especially when doing things like looking for work locally, not to mention the different perspective they provide on thing when they do indeed become your mates.

    Haha yeah so much this.

    Last year I cbf'ed going hard for the ball on the floor. Now I love the opportunity to dive on it when it's me vs 3 opponents. But struggle massively if it's 3 vs 3 because I pretty much always end up in the wrong position. Assuming it's due to my lack of experience.

    Sometimes I do miss playing a bit but for starters I'm probably not good enough nor do I have the time to play anymore - was fine in primary/lower high school when everything was a bit simpler but I already play sport 4x a week at this stage so I really would struggle playing footy on top. These days I'm happy enough just to have backyard footy games and kick to kick.

    When you're playing well it's a piece of piss. When you're playing shit it's near impossible.

    Not really.

    Apparently he should have got 12-14 weeks and a few people that saw the full incident said he didn't even hit her, it was the opposition.
