    Yeah I expected you to say something similar. Sinfield is probably the rugby league topic we disagree most about.

    Yes, he has played almost exclusively in the halves for the last couple of years (he still does have little stints in the forwards at times when McShane and Burrow are both on the field but that seems to be a rare tactic these days). And yes, even when he actually did play lock he played primarily as a ball-player. But I disagree with you that his defence in the forwards was poor, and I disagree that his running game isn't strong enough anymore. I think he's actually ideally suited to playing second row in a modern left/right structure; like a rich man's version of the role Ash Harrison plays for Queensland. I've always been a massive fan of him in general and that's not going to change no matter how many times you, Hunter or Cloughie make posts about him being over-rated or exclusively a half. :p

    I rate Matulino very highly tbh; he is a devastating ball runner and his workrate, especially in defence has improved over the last year or so. I'd say he is a fair way off the World XVIII but it isn't the worst inclusion so far.

    Yeah, he's a good player, my name's not SM. But it still seems pretty far-fetched to say he's one of the best props playing rugby league today.

    Yeah Thurston would obviously be halfback if I picked Carney ahead of Cronk. I'm basically converted to just picking two halves though. They have to compliment each other and be responsible as a unit for the structure, organisation and creativity of the side but as long as they do then I don't give a fuck which wears 6 and which wears 7; they play left/right anyway.

    I'd say he's the 3rd best prop in the world at the moment.......I'd have him over James Graham anyday.

    It is nice to see that you're settling in and falling victim to the Cricsim groupthink. It was only a month or so ago that you were laughing at people for rating Nightingale highly, saying that he had multiple flaws in his game and a really overrated player. But now he is in your World XVIII :p

    I don't see how you could put Carney ahead of Cronk at this stage. I'm not a big fan of Cronk and I've often said that I find him quite overrated these days but he's still ahead of Carney imo. If you value actual performances I think you really have to go with Cronk, which isn't bad as he has developed into a classy halfback. Carney has the potential to be far better imo but he hasn't shown it yet on a consistent basis.

    Not a big fan of Ryan Hall or Tom Briscoe?

    I think I must just rate Carney's performances higher and Cronk's performances lower than most do.

    Do you think Melbourne would've performed better, worse or the same with Carney in for Cronk over the last two seasons? Ignoring Carney's injuries and off-field related sackings, obviously.

    I really loathe to pick someone in an essentially ceremonial team like this just because they've played in successful teams or have good combinations with other successful players.
