I didn't see this before. I'm honestly quite surprised that you rate Sinfield's defence in the forwards and I struggle to see what you like about it so much. I've been unkind about his tackling in the past, which is actually decent but I still have two major issues with his defence:

1. He is undisciplined and gives away a lot of penalties for holding players down in the ruck and getting his hands all over the ball.

2. He always rushes in rather than sliding, even when his teammates are using a sliding defence. His decision-making can be quite good at times and he does make some good defensive plays by moving up quickly and shutting down overlaps/putting the ball carrier under a lot of pressure. But there are also a lot of occasions where he really screws up his outside men by jamming up and in when it is clearly the wrong option.

 

It is hardly desperate rationalisation, it is just basic comprehension. Yes, he thinks Stewart has been NSW's most dangerous player but that means he was their most dangerous player last series. That doesn't preclude the possibility of Hayne being more dangerous if given the opportunity at fullback. The argument was always that Stewart has runs on the board at fullback so he shouldn't be dropped, not that Stewart was a superior fullback.

Best team is the best players to form a team. Best 17 is the best individual players in each position irrespective of combination or balance.

I'll spell it out for you. I wanted Stewart picked unless Maloney was 6. In that case I wanted Hayne. My comments about Stewart being more dangerous are based on the runs on the board he has in Origin. All of that is about Origin. Club form means next to nothing to me.

Talking about the best 17 players, however, does make club form relevant. We're not picking a team based on proven ability to play an actual game. We're just picking the best 17 players.

For the record, I said yesterday that I think Stewart is the most rounded/complete fullback in the game. The position of fullback, however, favours more attack-based players.

 

I think we've previously established that reading and comprehension is the bane of your existence, you don't need to prove that to everyone else here too.

 

By "explained it adequately enough" you mean just re-iterating what he had already said and what everyone else already understood it to mean?
