No I know that I was just curious.

They're saying that Meninga and the QRL will stick with Papalli and McQueen. And that Guerra will actually start.

  3. Andato BJT Manera

Swap out Teo for Lillyman/McGuire and its a good squad.

  4. Cribbage RG Cribb

I think Guerra will play up the guts if he's picked.

    17.Papalii

Starting side is good. Bench is pus.

  6. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Why? I think Papalii will. He did last year. So did Gillett at times.

  7. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

Reckon McQueen might start on the left actually.

  8. Magic AJ Parker

    Too logical for Mal.

They'll play another two middle third players short.

Picking a massive pack is imperative for us. As much as I dislike Tony Williams hopefully it's a sign off the type of pack and game Laurie wants to play.

Is this named after the monday night game?

  10. AVA T Delonge

    On Tuesday I believe.

QLD is named tomorrow. NSW on Tuesday.

Meninga's mentality seems to be that he can pick so many backrowers and share the duties of the middle third between most of them. He's used Papalii, Gillett and Te'o in the middle at different times. Guerra will probably spend some time there.

And Parker will obviously spend time up front.

Guerra is legitimately better up the guts than he is on the edges though. He's a lock primarily now IMO. I was very sceptical when Easts decided to use him there but he's been gun.

I'm not particularly fussed. Papalii was very strong in the middle last year. I'd like to have Guerra's line running from the bench since Gillett will start. Then again, Papalii can certainly hit a hole.

Guerra is equally good on the edge IMO; he can also cover centre if we lose an outside back and we need to do a shuffle.

It's not that hard to transition from the edges to the middle

The middle requires less skill but greater technical efficiency. Blokes like Guerra and Papalii are excellent defenders with decent workrates so they can handle it. Blokes like Gillett should not be moved in-field at Origin level and probably not club level either and not just because it's a waste of what they offer on the edges.

So it seems like Scott is in the side. I wonder if that means Lewis will not be there.

And as much as I hate to admit it I think Paul Kent is probably right. Daley seems pretty fed up with alcohol-fueled complications which makes it hard to believe he'll start this new culture whilst including Pearce. But then again Pearce is something of an anomaly.

Daley loves Pearce. If it was up to him with no outside influence I think he would pick Pearce no matter what. I think that pressure from the media/others around him may make him pick someone else though.

At higher levels edge defense is so much more difficult. Many more one on one collisions requiring efficiency.
