I only casually tune in top whatever free to air games are on, so naturally I cop a fair bit of Broncos, but the strangest part about all their floggings is that it's largely seemed like the same blokes getting a run.

Even if there are injuries to fringe blokes, I've always thought clubs like Parramatta, Penrith and Brisbane tend to have the luxury of a larger pool of juniors/reggies players to pick from than a lot of other clubs. I find it incredible that a bloke like Darius Boyd is still getting a first grade gig. I don't think I'm exaggerating to say some of his efforts would get him dropped from park footy.

Surely Seibold has to swing the axe, even if its to put a bunch of kids in and say 'All we want in this game is attitude'. As a supporter I'd see that and go 'well good, not everything can be blamed on the coach and he's got the balls to say no matter who you are, you've got to put in'.

I mean I may be missing something, is it just that he's a bit inexperienced and fearful of flicking senior players? Surely he has to realise his job is on the line.

Has their been any stories of what happened during the break? I've got a cousin that seems to think there was a team meeting where Seibold asked 'who thinks I'm the man for the job' and 3 blokes raised their hand, but I've not seen that mentioned elsewhere.

Paul Kent posted an article after their Manly game saying that Siebold asked the players if they backed him and only two stood up, the rest remained silent. I imagine it's a spinoff of that story (which could be true or just some Kentisms).

But yeah, given Siebold isn't dropping the key players who are just coasting/shit cunts now, surely he's being bent over by the board and doesn't actually have the power to drop them? I can't imagine a world where a coach watches those performances and thinks Boyd and Milford are the best options in the team atm.

Part of it is probably their injuries, he said last night that with the addition of Oates, 15 of their 36 players are injured.

I think with guys like Milford and Boyd there's probably a bit of sunk cost fallacy going on, when you're paying guys 800k+ it feels like a waste to have them sitting in the stands.

Wtf was going on with his leg though?

A gnarly haematoma apparently. Looked fucked though.

I was wondering if it was that compartment syndrome that Benny had ages ago when it was swelling up. Such an odd injury but very happy its not a compound fracture.

Learn to use the right there or their cunt.

That definitely makes it tough. What does everyone think their full strength 17 would be?

Its at the point where since Boyd is retiring and the season is basically a wash, they might as well play younger guys for experience and to see what they've got. Literally no benefit with Boyd, and even from a sunk cost perspective its kinda non-sensical. If you're still competing, then yea sure the overpaid guy might be picked on that basis but surely not anymore.

Also another random thought, but I've thought this for a while: does anyone else think Boyd Cordner is one of the most overrated players? I've never really rated him - he's a solid first grader but just doesn't stand out. It stuns me how he's played 15 origins and 30 games for Australia. Perhaps it's because there's not that many other great left edge second rowers, but still surprising to me.

  12. Magic AJ Parker

I think you just fail to understand his role.

I think most of the media do too but he just is rated because he's the captain of the reigning premiers, reigning SOO champs & Australia. Ironically he's one of those players who usually would be underrated and overlooked for the more skilful players, which on that basis I would agree in terms of skill he probably doesn't rank in the top 10 or 15 2nd rowers in the comp.

Including so many teenagers in your top 20 players is always going to result in more injuries, history has shown this time and time again. It's why most clubs choose to blood their upcoming talent carefully. Brisbane have been reckless. It'll be a minor miracle if Payne Haas doesn't break down in the next 12-18 months.

Newcastle have blown so many opportunities in this game, should've put 4 or 5 tries on the board by now. Souths just not in this at all.

Did Ponga & Pearce just kiss each other on the cheek after that try?

Kaylyn Ponga scores and then actually kissed Mitchell Pearce on the cheek in the celebrations. Yikes. What has become of the sport of league I grew up with.

Warriors might be a shit team but we wouldn't see Adam Blair kiss RTS after a try,

    I feel offended.

Benji and Prince did a few times back in the day. Nothing wrong with it.
