Certainly needs to be a re-calibration of what constitutes when the bunker can get involved on foul play, a sin bin, a send off. Feel like the charges being handed out are just a side-effect on the softening on in-game calls.

Tyrell Sloan got to be the worst defender in the modern day game. Barely even tries to make it look like he's trying some times.

Broncos really should've won that, some shocking early set kicks from Mam.

Tom Eisenhuth isn't much better, the amount of tries I've seen result from his laziness in the middle...

With the 3 byes and the ladder looking very similar in terms of point distribution as same time last year I think is fair to assume that 32pts will be the cut off for the 8 again this year.

With 8 rounds left to play that leaves a maximum of 16 points on offer.

    Warriors - 19pts
    Broncos - 18pts
    Rabbitohs - 18 points

I did not see these 3 sides being ruled out this early but they can only really afford to drop a game unless they want to bank on their F/A getting them across the line.

Rabbitohs with the toughest draw, play all top 4 sides once with no byes left. Goooooneee.

Broncos with a pretty good draw, 5/7 games against bottom 8 sides and only 1 game against top 4 side plus a bye in hand. And they have a positive F/A. Have to win their next 5 straight as I don't see them beating both Storm and Dolphins to close out the season.

Warriors with a mixed draw. 3 games against bottom 8 sides, 4 games against top 8 (1x top 4) and they have a bye in hand (last round). They play 13, 16th and 17th in next 3 weeks. Not only need to win but need to get their F/A back in the green.

Warriors F/A only matters against Manly.

Are they rushing Reynolds back to save their season? I thought he was gone for the year.

Was due back round 22. Passed all their fitness tests apparently. It's desperate, but they are in a desperate situation.

First team to win it from 7th or 8th? I wouldn't want to play them in the finals, but I still hope they make it so the best teams are involved.

They looked good last night after the first 15 mins or so. Reynolds makes a big difference. If his bicep holds up, having the rest of his body on ice for nnearly 3 months might be a god-send for them.

Katoa has got to be one of if not the most impressive 20yo halfback in my time watching the game.

Can argue there's been young halfbacks with more natural talent or higher ceilings but his performances at 20yrs of age are at a level beyond well beyond his experience.

The most impressive part is the circumstances. At a start-up club filled with a mashup squad. Usually players at his stage of his career come into established sides, or come through with a group of guys he's been playing with for years.

Islanders peak early. He's impressive for his age but for some reason I don't think he's going to progress much further. That kick across field instead of getting the field goal was woeful.

He's clueless, he blamed the loss on origin and lack of mojo lol. No it's because they didn't adapt to the rushing defence at all. You can't just run the same play everytime of passing it out the back to Walsh and let him get smashed. Considering Mam/Reynolds struggle to throw long balls, you have to play through the middle to adapt to that, and when you players like Haas and Walsh to work with there's no excuse, any real coach would know when to switch to ruck plays. Can't even remember the last time I've seen Walsh running through the middle like other fullbacks.

The thing with Kevvie, most people predicted him to be a shit coach. He just has protection in the media. Watching Tallis attempt to shield him from any blame is almost sad.

I think there’s been enough injuries to distract from Walter’s shortcomings.

With changes to both assistants next year there’s no chance Walter’s isn’t there Round 1 next year.

I think the distraction from his shortcomings comes from the fact everyone in the media is mates with him. From blokes he played with, to guys he worked with at fox. Last night on 360 was the first time a journo has dared to say Kevvie is protected by the old boys.

Their defence is the problem tbh. They Change their centres/edges every week though, so that doesn't help.

  19. Magic AJ Parker

lol @ Brian Kelly being put on report for that hit on Reece Walsh.

Walter’s wishes have come true, Walsh is now a protected species.

That pass back to Foran on the inside was so blatantly forward, even to help out the touchie Foran was standing a good half metre in front of the passer.
