That was such a controlled performance by Penrith. Geez they were fired up, Alamoti, Martin and Luai all mouthed off to different storm players and different stoppages. Obviously meant a lot to knock them off.

5 grand finals and 4 wins is just insane. Especially with some of the absolute marquee superstars they've lost only to replace them with solid club players. So impressive

Best defensive team there's ever been, even after all the attacking changes. The NRL won't like that. I do though, I prefer games which are played like a chess match. Surprised more clubs haven't yet copied their tactic to defuse attacking bombs.

Couldnt agree more. The GF and Game 3 of Origin were 2 of the most compelling matches played all year imo. They were a breath of fresh air in the midst of these try-fests which have become the norm.

The NRL's pandering to the lowest common denominator who want to see 40-36 scorelines can take a hike.

I’ve had a few people saying it was a boring game.
Which I find ridiculous, was a brilliant game.

First half was awesome, 2nd half left a bit to be desired.

Melbourne got some field possesion in the 2nd half but never looked dangerous enough to really challenge the complexion of the game after half time. I appreciate good defence but there wasn’t much in the way of attack challenging that defence in the 2nd half to be honest. Multiple times you’d see Munster drifting across field with no option runners or support, it was just real pedestrian like sets. Their best hope looked another scoot from Grant or a bit of luck from a kick.

Don’t think it was a boring game by any means but I don’t think it’s a grand final that will stick in the memory bank for much more than it being 4 in a row to the Panthers.

There were some un-Melbourne like sets in the 2nd but I can only put that down to the extreme fatigue. Ive never seen so many players blowing after 15 minutes. Hughes and Munster taking hit-ups in their forwards' stead.

The break they made with 2 minutes to go was a shot that needed to be fired 10 minutes earlier. Penrith were just too relentless and wore them out.
Howarth being held up proved decisive.

I think it was maybe less "exciting" than 2023 but much better quality football.

Storm looked in real trouble only about 5mins into the 2nd half. They were gassed. Like 2 defenders still on the ground while the ball is being played.

The huge difference between Panthers and every other side is the extra efforts. When Storm put up a kick 30 or 40m out, 1 player is challenging, and maybe 1 player is there for scraps. When Panthers do the same from a similar spot, there are 4 or 5 players around the ball. They wont lose this work ethic, but losing Fish, Luai, and to a lessor extent Turuva, we saw a bit of it this season, however surely they come back to the pack next season.

Turuva is not a loss in any way. Cunt is average.
