Good call I reckon, Lake looked pretty exposed in a hell of a lot of games this season.

  2. The Half Back JW Taylor

Lake wanted to go around for another year, the Hawks are looking to youth however, so at 33, we didn't want to offer him another contract.

Freo shocked me with their first place this year, thought they'd end up about 6th. Like how Lochie Neale has developed and Fyfe is just something else.

Pav should definitely go around one more year I think. He can still play an important role but just isn't up to being the key forward/lone tall forward. Clarke isn't the answer. I think Freo would be best served having a Fyfe/Munday/Sandilands (or similar) rotation as the key forward.

Anyone know what Crowley is doing with himself for 2016?

I doubt he'll be going to his local GP for a while.

Sandilands doesn't cut it as a forward.

Unless you guys bring someone in I can't see Freo having a potent forward line up there with the best.

well that's why they are trying to bring McCarthy in, no?

I think Pavlich will go around again if McCarthy comes.

  9. Tadeusz T Bochat

McCarthy's unlikely to end up over here though?

tbh, Hill should have kicked it earlier

RE: Sandi up forward, still baffles me how a bloke 7' tall does not take more marks up forward

Because a 7' blokes can't run as fast or jump as high as a 6'3-6'5 bloke.

just kick it on top of his head, even if he extends his arm, makes it almost impossible for the defender

In theory yes but the past, i dunno 20, 30, 40 years have proven that leading forwards are the best to have.

The agility of bloke in the AFL is such that they are able to spoil that, these blokes are able to jump on each others shoulders, they can jump. Clearly being able to get a metre off the defender early and take a mark outstretched at its highest point is the hardest to defend

Sandilands has proven throughout his career he just isn't really up to it as a forward. If you say the whole kick it on top of his head idea, clubs already play enough 2 on 1 in their backline that most the time it becomes a wrestle with your a direct opponent so the spare can impact the contest.

I've have more faith in Sandi nabbing a couple of contested marks up front in a quarters worth of footy throughout the game than any of our other options.

Freo would be well into Aaron Black I reckon. WA boy who wants to go home. Good 3rd tall option, not your KPF hope however.

Zac Smith apparently another one nominating the Cats.

one or two of those guys aren't going to make it to the club unless we give up all of this and next year's picks... and I don't like the sound of that
