Scheduling All matches will be given a broadcast date. This is designed to ensure the season flows at a good rate and to let people know when they're playing. There will be two full rounds per week; meaning the main part of the season will go for approximately nine weeks, and then be followed by the representative season. No games will be scheduled for Saturdays. Firstly because I'm often quite busy on Saturdays and won't be able to post let alone sim, and secondly because it gives me a chance to reschedule games for then if I get slightly behind. Instead of broadcasting competition by competition, games will be broadcast by team. For example, March 1st may be merely assigned "Gamblers v Cyclones", in which case all three Gamblers v Cyclones game of the round (Horrigan Cup, Avo Lovers Cup and Bannerman Shield) would be broadcast on that day. Keep in mind that the broadcast date and the simming date are not always the same thing, and that all lineups are due in 24 hours after all grades for your club in the specific format have been completed. Five-Day Franchise Cricket Stingrays Cyclones Vipers Sticky Wickets Pumas Ravens Crusaders Gamblers The Bannerman Shield (First XI) and Avo Lovers Cup (Second XI) competitions will run in exactly the same fashion they did in Season 8 other than the new scheduling. One-Day Franchise Cricket Stingrays Cyclones Vipers Sticky Wickets Pumas Ravens Crusaders Gamblers Please note the following rule changes only apply to one day cricket: Franchises will be required to name teams of 12 rather than 11, with the 12th man being able to bowl, but not to bat. Bowlers will be permitted to bowl a maximum of 10 overs rather than 9, however any five bowlers combined must not bowl more than 45 overs (ie. you still need five overs from your 6th bowler). Simming averages will be very heavily weighted by recent activity. One day cricket is going to be a medium for players active at the time to taste first XI cricket. Activity before the season has started will be worth nothing and activity will be worth more as the season progresses. Activity for one day cricket is not purely being measured by posts anymore. This measure is on trial for our First Class competitions as a potential addition for Season 10 but it's only being used in OD cricket for Season 9. It's being put in place to reduce the incentive for spam. I'm not going to tell you exactly how it works but reading the forum regularly and contributing to discussions where you see fit will qualify you as active even if you aren't making 50 one-line posts per day. Having lost out on the new rule changes, allrounders will be treated more fairly in terms of simming averages and be more likely to hold their place as specialists in their primary discipline. An active allrounder will be a much better batsman than an inactive specialist batsman, for example. The Horrigan Cup will run completely alongside the Bannerman Shield for the entirety of the season. Five-Day Mid-Season Rep Cricket New South Wales Queensland Victoria Great Britain New Zealand State of Origin will run as normal - a three game series between New South Wales and Queensland. The SportsTech Pacific Cup will also run as normal - a tri-series between Victoria, Great Britain and New Zealand with each team playing two games. However, this competition has been granted full representative status. One-Day Mid-Season Rep Cricket Sydney NSW Country Queensland Victoria Great Britain New Zealand The Rossleigh Trophy will run mid-season as a five-game-a-side round robin between the above six teams, and then a final will be held. It's been moved to align it with other rep games as I felt it just got in the way completely last season and felt out of place. New South Wales have been split up in this competition due to sheer player numbers. They're definitely being left as is in all other competitions though. All rule changes mentioned in the "One-Day Franchise Cricket" section apply here. Post-Season Rep Cricket New South Wales Queensland Victoria Great Britain New Zealand The Provincial Championship will run with New Zealand introduced for the first time. Each team will play each other once and then a final will be held. CricSim North CricSim South CricSim North will play CricSim South in a three game series of a name TBA. Rankings Due to the increased inequity being created by the addition of the likes of New Zealand to full represented cricket and the increased number of representative games being played by all now as compared with the past, all rep games will be removed from five-day rankings. A player's ranking will reflect how he has performed in Five-Day Franchise Cricket (ie. the Bannerman Shield and the Avo Lovers Cup). Typos There are probably lots in this post tbh.
Yeah you will. Rep games don't count for much more than normal games in those anyway though and with NSW being split up we won't have that funny inequity. The system for them won't change.
F*** me. Wasn't expecting anything like that when I logged in. That sounds totally immense. I especially like all the games being played at the same time i.e Rays vs Cylcones in BS, ALC, HC & HP. I am also quite impressed with the scheduling and think this will make the forum much better and I like knowing in advance when certain games will be. I think the biggest thing forum wise, however will be the changes in relation to activity & posts. I think this will make things a lot fairer and perhaps even the playing field a little. It will also effect some teams using inactive players based on their previous performances. I can't wait for the new season now after this announcement.
Wow, quite the changes. Are the rep rank changes starting from now? Or will we be seeing massive changes in rankings soon?
Indeed. It's worth noting though that it only applies to one day cricket at the moment. Five day cricket is still running how it always has.
My computer still isn't working, so I can't change them at the moment. You'll see massive changes in a few days I guess. I'm guessing you'll go down quite a bit actually, so don't look forward to it.
I know that's what I'm worried about A bit harsh though, seeing as they were all done against Vic, QLD and NSW.
That's a good place to start, and hopefully when it's successful during the season eventually it will move to the 5 day game as well.
Harsher still though is that someone like Wilkinson who has comprehensively outperformed you at franchise level didn't get the chance to play those games because he's from a stronger province and then got overtaken by you because you performed in them. Given more rep games are played now than in previous seasons, too, it's unfair on those with good rep records who played a lot in the earlier seasons when so many more club games were played, like Tyson. Everyone gets a chance to play in the BS and/or the ALC. It's a fair comparison. The rankings will never be perfect, but I think they'll be more accurate if they try to stop taking too many things into account and just say "this is what they measure, and they measure it well". Obviously when comparing top players you'll now have to look at their rep record and their ranking, but that's better IMO than putting forward a false representation of an account-all measure that's flawed in many ways. I think I can get the rankings to be a very, very accurate representation of what someone has done at club level. As it stands now they are becoming a bit of a joke that no-one takes seriously - Callum's bowling ranking being a prime example. If I left them they'd become even worse this coming season with NZ playing in the PC and the STPC getting rep status.
