Lohan hasn't been anywhere near as bad as Winehouse was, tbh. She's had more criminal problems than drug problems, and most of her drugs were related to drinking iirc. Could be wrong though....
Because when people who don't harm others and contribute something to society die, it's customary to offer condolences or sympathy. I didn't like her music and I didn't like her often self-righteous demeanour but as EWS said, she was hardly anything more than a troubled soul. That's not a rebuttal. Plenty of people who are bullied turn to drugs. Basically you're saying that if some kid is bullied and commits suicide he deserves your condolences. But if another kid gets bullied, takes drugs, over-indulges and dies, you won't lament him as you would the first. I certainly agree that there is a distinction to be made between those who deserve respect in death and those who do not. I also agree that the line lay in a grey area. However, the existence of a grey area does not negate black and white. And people who are basically humane and normal but happen to have issues which lead to drugging themselves to death are hardly on the wrong side of said line. We have no idea what sort of emotional problems she had or traumas endured in her life. Erring on the side of a passing empathy is the correct position IMO.
He said nothing of the sort. Winehouse didn't turn to drugs because of bullying. I find it funny how you always crack the shits at people putting words into your mouth when you're guilty of them same thing.
Yes he did. I was using bullying as an example. There are innumerable reasons why people take drugs. Addiction doesn't make you a bad person.
If a kid is bullied turns to drugs, gets addicted, is offered help and says "No, no, no", then overdoses, Then IMO, they don't deserve as much sympathy as someone who commits suicide after suffering from depression or the like.
He never said that a kid who is bullied and then takes drugs should not deserve condolences. He was talking solely about Winehouse the whole time. He wasn't talking about drug addicts in general. Each story is different, as you said there are innumerable reasons why people take drugs, and he thinks hers isn't worth his condolences.
No he wasn't. He claimed there was a distinction to be made between those who take drugs and those who get bullied, and implied the latter deserve sympathy, which the former do not, should they happen to off themselves. Unless of course the drug addicts happen to be bullied beforehand. He probably doesn't even know why the fuck she took drugs.
As usual, you have nothing. You're just being a judgemental douche. You have no idea why she took drugs and yet you blame her for not seeking help. When I prove that argument fallacious and ask for a simple distinction you come out with the self-negating "If you think that, you're such and such."
No, you bought up that. He said nothing of what you're saying. The only time he did make a distinction was when he was saying if someone refuses treatment they don't deserve sympathy. Re-read it all. You made all the assumptions.
