Maybe name 1 player that you want the energy levels to affect less? They get a worse hit and only lose 8 energy points, maybe.
Don't bring league into this. I can see where you're coming from though, the ABs would never sub McCaw off, the Boks would never sub Matfield off and the Wallabies would never sub Giteau off unless they were injured.
League had nothing to do with it, it was the first example of a key player to a team i could think of. ****, i would've said the captain of the local tiddly winks team if i thought of it.
maybe have a different energy hit for different postions i'm sure a loose forward would waste more energy than a winger for instance
How much energy would be used if you come on/go off as a substitute? Personally, I think this would be a great idea if each franchise had adequate backup for all positions, but I can see some players having to play with 0-20 energy level due to there being no backup, having shocking games and getting pretty pissed off with the whole thing. Also, I'm not in favour of rewarding inactive players. Surely franchises should be able to reward their most active (and generally, therefore higher post-ranked) players with more game time and this kinda counter-acts that.
Firstly, there are no subs on the new engine. I think I will have to do it so certain positions lose less depening on how many people have signed up as that position. True, but sometimes Player X who has 50 energy points can still be better than Player Y who has 80 energy points.
Agreed. I'd have it done by positions rather so that a forward will use more energy than a 9/10 or a winger for example.
could also have it that certain players get to "rehab", ie they get certain amount of energy back inbetween games, maybe only 1 or 2 players who are chosen each week per team
<DIR>The thing about the energy levels is that, SR, when it comes down to it is a competition so you put out your full strength team to win,so the idea of playing people in the reserves is that, that is their chance to shine and try and get picked for the firsts. So really having the energy levels makes having a reserve team pointless, competition wise as everyone would get a game no matter what. I see what Eds is trying to do by getting everyone involved but it just loses the point of competition imo, because you have to play everyone in the season no matter what. CricSim doesn't do it which means if youre not in the firsts then you have to work your way into them by playing well in the reserve games. Same in RL sim. And also what if you don't have enough players to cover everyone's position? If you only have a sqaud of say 19 and they have 2 players that can play in the backs and two in the forwards and the back players positions were say Full Back, Wing, Centre and the others was Centre, Wing, Fly-Half, you'd have no-one to cover scrum half so basically you're scrummie would be playing on empty by the end of the season. And like wise with the forwards. If one players positions were prop, hooker and flanker and the others was flanker, No. 8 and hooker you'd have no-one to play second row and therefore they would also be running on empty. A solution to this could be that you picked a few say maybe 2 or 3 players at the start of the season that are allowed to play through the season or something like that. Eds would have to approve of them though to make sure you aren't just picking your star players and that they do actually need to play throughout the season as there is no-one to cover for them. </DIR>
I don't think there is enough reserves to make this work at the moment tbh. EDIT: My view is to leave it as it is and to have players post for spots. If they want to play firsts then they need to be active and post in the sub-forum.
Yeh the captain of the team should get 10 points each game to give to particular players. Actually 10 may be too many because that recovers 5/15 of your players. Maybe 7 points.
Really good idea tbh. Each club president would get 8 (is more reasonable) to plus onto any player he wants after every round.
