Craig Bellamy is a rubbish coach

    Reason why NSW couldn't win all those years. Only reason why Melbourne won games was due to the salary cap rort.

    Just making this thread early, because once (if) NSW win this series, that'll probably be the public consensus.

    Cap rorting or not, some of Bellamy's coaching at club level was revolutionary and he'll go do as a very fine coach at that level.

    I don't think he ever really grasped Origin, though. It always seemed like he was still putting Melbourne first and I don't think he put enough credence into the differences between Origin and club level football. I don't really rate Stuart as a tactical coach at all but he seems to have succeeded where Bellamy couldn't in capturing the essence of NSW Origin.

    Bellamy is a fantastic club coach but an average rep coach. He is great at getting 100% ability and performance out of a group of 25 blokes he has for an entire season. However he doesn't quite have the ability to get 18 blokes, work with them for a week and get them to give 100% at a rep game. I think you need two types of coaches for Club and Rep footy.

    Your club coaches need to be able to teach skills, modify player attitudes and work rates and manage player work load. Whereas your rep Coach first and foremost needs to be a motivator who is skilled at getting a group of players to combine and build up combinations in a short time. Its no surprise that while Meninga was an average club coach he's a brilliant rep coach, he's great at getting his players working towards a common goal and firing up his team, whereas Bellamy is the opposite and is stronger at the technical coaching required to make a team tick for an entire season

    I don't like Bellamy because he took the game somewhere it didn't need to go, and ruined a lot of what was good about the game. prick.

    He's done well with a team that, outside of a few immense players, is nothing special. Though I guess it's those few awesome players that are the real difference.

    You can't call Bellamy a shit coach after what he's done with Melbourne this year, after the devastation and heart-break of last year. They've offloaded about 2 million worth of talent and are still a top 2 side.
