completely, totally different. stylistically totally unlike any dw ep of the new run with the possible exception of a few late s6 eps. capaldi is boss. direction was exceptional. probably the most interested i've been in clara since her first ep (not saying much mind). haven't figured anything out beyond that.
Seemed a bit off for the first 15-20 mins, got far better though. Think it'll get better if Capaldi continues being a boss/Scottish/crazy. Still wonder why the Dulux colour range Daleks seem to have been forgotten, barely seen them since they've been introduced instead of the normal smaller gold ones
in news that will surprise and amaze, doctor who fans who were kids during the original series hated the episode.
i didn't pick that at all. still can't work out where you got that from. yeah agreed just everything was different, cinematography/direction/music just all so completely different to what dw normally is. unsure if i like it, probs just need to adjust. yeah capaldi is good. something just felt a little off with him though. I don't like the scottish accent i think, just doesn't ring well. Like the doctor he seems to be becoming though. didn't like the ep, seemed a little corny + cliche and lacking depth
really liked the last 5 mins though with the matt smith cameo who the fuck was that bish at the end claiming to be the doctor's missus though/
Didn't like it. Couldn't hear what the fuck he said half the time, particularly in the opening scene. I'll probably grow into it though, I grow massively attached to previous doctors.
Some of the humour seemed forced at times. SPOILERS: "Do you want me to take your clothes?" -- come on Strax, lift your game mate. Not sure what to think about the portrayal of the Vastra/Jenny relationship, tbh. I can imagine tumblr taking issue with them normalising it throughout the whole episode before the "ZOMG INTERSPECIES LESBIAN KISS" thing. Unsure about the chick at the end though. This could go into Amy/Baby/Eyepatch Lady weird fuckery again, and I really wasn't a fan of that series at all (despite, IMO, Amy being a boss).
Genuinely interested to know where you got this from? Capaldi's "I'd probably blame the English" line?
I miss Amy so unbelievably much. Clara just can't match her even though she's better than expected. Reckon Amy would have worked really well with twelve too.
Amy is an overrated Mary sue who happened to be played by a really really good actress who was also smoking hot. The character itself sucks. deal with it
I watched the first Capaldi episode and was really confused. I'm guessing there were a lot of things that made sense if you'd watched the previous Doctor, but I didn't watch any of the Matt Smith stuff apart from his first and last episodes and the one with John Hurt, so I felt as if I was missing something.
