Yeah I had difficulty with this with CricSim too. I tried to do it on a player pool basis with the amount of First Class teams, but that would put Australia on similar footing with Bangladesh, so obviously the number of First Class teams isn't really a good way to measure a player pool. It's why we haven't had Tests in a while; I found it impossible to attribute the standard of CricSim's domestic competitions to anything else.
It still doesn't make sense. It doesn't even vaguely begin to solve the problem tbh. You should stop talking before someone gives you an infraction I reckon.
Morrison has been a very solid feature of the Scotland team for a long time now, Ansbro is just getting started. He's got heaps of potential, but he's yet to prove himself in terms of international ability.
IMO, the first class system isn't actually that bad a way of working it in this case I think, or at least for comparing to Magners league nations. Most of the Scottish, Irish, Welsh and Italian national team members are drawn from these teams. Scotland and Italy both have 2 (although Italy's have been newly introduced), Wales and Ireland both have 4. England take 18 out of 26 players from 4 domestic clubs (Leicester, Bath, Northampton and London Irish), but also have that little extra added depth that puts them ahead of the rest of the UK nations. I think we could make the assumption that we really stand probably somewhere between Wales and England in terms of home nations. Obviously, France is a whole different kettle of fish, what with them being a very unpredictable national team, and also having a league system that attracts a lot of international superstars, so I wouldn't be confident ranking against them as it stands. Then you have the super 15 nations, SA, NZ and Aus, all having 5 teams in the particular league, and I think its fair to say their national teams are pretty level, with NZ leading the pack. I would say that in terms of forming a direct comparison, it should probably be considered that NZ draw from more along the lines of 6 teams in comparison to the GB's four team nations, being the top ranked team currently. So basically, I'd use this order for ranking major teams (whacking us in on the IRB list essentially): New Zealand Australia South Africa France England Cricsim Wales Scotland Ireland Italy
