Eggman told you ages in advance, can't pin this on him. Weaver agreed to the Rays before the Gamblers.

Well, kinda yeah, but Read/Taylor/Gemmell were still confident of getting him, and it wasn't until the last minute when it got completely ruled out.

Here's something I whipped up this arvo and posted in the Rays subbie. Seems appropriate for this thread...

Proof that Rays batting is better than the Try hards:
Player (career avg, season 8 avg)
    Rays:
    1. Vago (48.02, 67.07)
    2. Dafter (41.32, 45.78)
    3. Downpipes (44.29, 48.89)
    4. Hornby (43.59, 52.26)
    5. Berkuta (39.14, 50.13)
    6. Borisc (37.33, 29.25)
    7. Volvavola (36.63, n/a)
    8. Weaver (28.36, 28.87)
    9. Farnsworth (18.87, 21.70)
    10. King (11.89, 13.00)
    11. Yates (16.20, 22.00)
Total of career averages: 366 (36.6 runs per wicket))
Total of season averages: 378 not inc Elliot (42 runs per wicket)

    Gamblers:
    1. Armstrong (42.39, 47.33)
    2. Davis (45.84,37.12)
    3. Manera (48.53, 43.85)
    4. Jemmell (51.35, 62.36)
    5. Morgan (32.60, 14)
    6. O'Driscoll (37.01, 34.07)
    7. Read (34.07, 35.92)
    8. Taylor (12.00, 16.70)
    9. Surkelton (7.97, 5.68)
    10. Crowley (7.01, 6.53)
    11. Spinks (9.13, 8.93)
Total of career avgs: 328 (32.8 runs per wicket)
Total of season 8 avgs: 313 (31.3 runs per wicket)

That's not even taking into account our sex like depth, either.

Now, I'll admit that obviously Yates isn't gonna average 22 for the rest of his career and that a few of the newer blokes are probably a little skewed. Still, our batting as a collective group shits all over theirs.

You could say that about alot of signings. Weaver never said "I am 100% going to the Gamblers" therefore, never dogged you.

  5. Ged GEC King

Weaver was always coming to us. Benny tried a last ditch effort after they missed out on Tyson.

  6. Eds E Ames

Those stats favour you because of your depth. They have specalist bowlers at 8 and 9 whereas you have Bowling ARs there. The stats are very similar if you use top 7.

  7. Eds E Ames

That is what I thought happened. Gamblers just trying to make excuses IMO.

  8. morgieb MC Burridge

Is Elliott even allowed to sign?

  9. Ged GEC King

Why not look at the batting as a collective group of the xi though? That's how many runs each team averages per innings.

  10. morgieb MC Burridge

Reckon I'm a better bet for playing than Morgan, at least if the selectors actually see performances rather than potential.

  11. Ged GEC King

    He already has.

  12. Magic AJ Parker

Reckon this team will go close to the spoon tbh... unfortunately Stickies might be down there this season too :(

  13. Alec AD Funkotron

Down there on your knees around the Ravens cock.

  14. morgieb MC Burridge

Looked at his account, looks like he has. Didn't post a contract though which explains why I doubted it.

  15. Ged GEC King

I reckon that the Stickies will surprise. Denton will gun it imo and Whicker and Jacobs are proven. If Laing or Humble can consistenly produce, there's enough runs in Speirs, Parker, Alessi, Thornton to succeed.

  16. Magic AJ Parker

Pretty much... Laing just needs to continue his form from last season and we'll be sweet. One of the younger batsman succeeding wouldn't hurt either... Bakkum wanting a release though kind of cancels that out of the equation though

I reckon that your team is the one that least needs all rounders. Really, there's no need to have any other allrounders in the side than Jacobs and Speirs. You'll end up playing at least one, if not two, on batting alone though, it would seem.

  18. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

I totally forgot we offered Morgie a contract.

  19. Skippos SM Morgan

Meh, you've been here longer, your stats are better, I came here to open seconds tbh

Looking forward to how Gamblers get on with a batting side tbh. Should be interesting.
