It's a great idea in terms of realism but shit for Cricsim; no one is interested in seeing their game rained out. You'd then have to decide what part of the world all grounds are from and stuff to decide weather, too complicated I think and wouldn't benefit anyone really.
Pretty interesting that no-one has any comments on my reasons why weather would be good. Just a re-cap: - adds realism to CricSim. - makes those simple chase games no longer as simple, and therefore not boring. - creates more CoS options with the ability to bowl your swing bowlers on an overcast day, for example.
And some games you will lose half or a full day and it would make it interesting as ****. I've said they're good comments.
1) Yeh but like already mentioned sometimes being realistic isn't the best thing, how far is too far? 2) Might make them more interesting but could also make more games boring... what about the games where it comes down to the last few overs... only a few runs to get but only a few wickets in hand. It's all hypothetical. 3) Who are the swing bowlers in Cricsim?
All it is is that you can allow for bad Light / Rain Delays and you lose time for those, the ability to bowl your swing bowlers on an overcast day, all stays the same.
Sorry, you're right. Any constructive critisism from the haters? Or just some general ramblings in an attempt to skip past the issue?
Swing bowling = medium pace I put down in my original rego I was a swing bowler. I was made a medium pacer.
Yeah sure they offer something, but I honestly would be pissed if I performed, moved up to BS and had two days rained off. It would suck. Yes realism could be good, and you could have swing bowlers, but in all honesty do we know who actually is a swing bowler? I suppose it would add that extra dimension that people could possibly become Swing Bowlers, but I'm sceptical.
Weather is not too far. It's the damn weather, you could argue that removing the weather is in itself too far. Boobidy made a good comparison earlier about penalties, it's apart of the game. Exactly. The rain could only show up once every two weeks and could only last for half a session, we never know. It adds that randomness that makes the game that much more interesting. Medium and fast-medium bowlers. They seem to struggle atm, it'd add something for them.
Constructive criticism/question - if weather is brought in, would CoS be given a forecast, like in ICC, to help choose a team with?
