    From next year until the end of 2015.

    Good signing for Penrith because they do need back rowers, but he's a bit similar to Smith and Lewis to be a great signing. Cleary obviously a fan.

    It's a strange one, I'm happy with the signing as I think Brown offers more than Smithy/Plummy/Galeay/Ciraldy/etcy. But didn't Cleary have him coming in and out of the side quite a bit last year? To my memory he played most of the last 3rd of the season at centre.

    Yeah he did, but I think that was more to do with the Warriors lack of centre options than the fact that he didn't think he was good enough in the back row. Warriors had some good back row options too - hard to fit Mannering, Luck, Taylor, Brown and Mateo all into the one side without playing at least one of them out of position.

    He's a very good player; he's one of the best genuine second row defenders in the comp and his line running and ball-playing is dangerous at times too, but that's a description of Lewis and Smith as well - and Simpkins too in a way. You needed another second rower and he's a high quality one but I dunno if he's the best for balance as such.

    Wise decision. Brown's a solid player who you feel really doesn't get the minutes he deserves. Will obviously play a lot more in the backrow now too.

    I'm happy to pick him up although it is counter productive when it seems Penrith have gone out and signed what they believe to be up and coming back rowers. I'm pretty happy but I probably rate him better than he actually is.


    I was sure Cleary actually dropped Brown at one point?

    Yeah he did, and I had a huge rant about it on here IIRC. Again though, see first paragraph. Not an area of weakness for the Warriors, so I don't think it's because he doesn't rate him (evidently so, tbh...).

    He'll be our best back rower aside from Lewis.

    Despite us having a ton of back rowers, if two of Achurch, Simpkins, *bloke named in 18 this week*, Fatiaki (not happening imo) etc don't kick on it's really not a strength or anything. Blokes like Newton and Cirloldo aren't up to scratch imo.

    13 Simpkins ( if he's no good than Plum if he ever comes back)

    16. Weston


    I like that, impact from Weston, defense in Simpkins/Plum and nice linkage from Lewis and Brown. If we're going to persist with the after Burner than we'll need all the help we can get on the fringes.

    Also with a bit of luck Achurch will turn into our damaging impact fringe running second rower.

    I don't really believe in the player movements thread tbh. We have a whole subbie, might as well use it. I post rumours in there, but when something in confirmed it deserves its own thread, IMO.
