It improves his team significantly. Cordy is more capable of playing forward than Simpson and really that does matter out of a reserve ruck. And Simpson only played like 6 games last year and 10 in his career. Is behind blicavs and hmac in the pecking order too. He doesn't have the runs on the board, he doesn't have the ability to go forward and his sample is small. He's not much chop in this - someone like jake spencer despite playing for a less likeable team without a cool beard spencer now has runs on the board consistently. That's how this works. Cordy isn't very good but he's certainly better than most made him out to be by virtue of the fact that he's a capable shutdown defender so he doubles up as a reserve key back. Also a better fwd/ruck than a lot of blokes seem to think. Has potential too.

The winderlich for jonas part is definitely fair compensation though. Jonas couldn't even get picked in our psd let alone main draft. Winderlich is a player who would be in most teams 22s. The sim doesn't let injury records distort a players a ability. Yeah, injury sim might hurt them a little more but on the park they're still good. And winderlich is a 30 goal forward or an accountable 20 touch back. He's a good player. Hen has turned the worst player on his list into a best 22 player at the cost of downgrading his 4th ruck into someone who actually helps him too. Of all the deals to take exception to this one surprised me.

 

Put a slab on it that Cordy will be on a list next year?

Clearly y'all like Simpson a lot. So do I - that was the prime reason I went after the trade (actually, I lied. I asked Hen to draft Jonas and said I'd trade for him, I needed another lockdown defender and I felt Jonas is in the top 20 lockdown defenders in the league so he shouldn't have slipped, I didn't realise he had until I went to look at picks for bots/harps)

It's essentially Winderlich + Cordy for Simpson + filler though. As a 4th ruck Simpson is wasted and he gets Cordy to do that who's an apt 4th ruck but also covers a shaky key/forward defense unit but to make up for the downgrade he gets a clear best 22 player. The worst thing for winderlich cpl wise is to come back and play tbh as if he does he's likely to look worse than he did last time when he was pretty damn good. But yeah, Cordy's perhaps the most underrated player around. He's no world beater but he's serviceable, a good depth player really.

Normally I'm pretty balanced but I just can't see the hate here. Simpson's played like 10 games in 6 seasons and only 2-3 of them have been 'good.' He's Geelong's third choice ruck, too. Perhaps 4th, I don't know where Vardy lies.
