He'll do some good things with the Tigers throw it around and try shit strategy, but obviously they're not gonna win a comp.

There's no evidence to me that he's a great game manager (tbf he hasn't needed to be), his kicking game is pretty average, he's been in the best team on the best run( most of the time with one of the best club centres and best back rowers outside him) for 4 years and is still in the low teens for try assists. One thing that's been missed to is how much he's dropped off in linebreak assists. 2021 he looked like a genius when he had the brain of Matt Burton running off him, but I think that had a lot to do with Burtons lines etc.

Could turn out to be one of the most Wests Tigersy signings of all time. I'm still not totally convinced he's not just the most successful Josh Reynolds/Travis Burns/Mortimer trier type there's ever been.

Worst thing is this makes Penrith way stronger. They are going to replace 800k Luai with a min wage Laurie, and arguably won't lose anything but will be able to retain/strengthen other spots.

This is such a typical dud signing. From Brookes to Luai is hilarious.

Yeah Laurie is a better 6 than Doueihi IMO and will complement Cleary well.

ACL can be career ending for a back so it'll be interesting to see what happens with Doueihi in general. I've always thought he's primarily a centre and should focus on that but he was slow off the mark for a back to begin with. I don't think he's gonna make it as a 6 if someone tries to pick him up as one.

This was definitely mean to say “I’ve never thought he’s had a high ceiling”

The more I think of the Luai signing, the more I think it's a good one for the Tigers. Halves with his success and profile are rare, ones off contract are even rarer. Tigers wouldn't have anyone close to $1.2M on their books; now that Brookes is gone, so it's easier for them to fork out that kind of cash. Unlike teams like Panthers, Broncos, Storm, Cows and maybe even Roosters; who will have a few players around the $900-1M+ in the coming seasons.

$1.2M looks like a lot at face value, and while it is a lot, it will already be less than 10% of the cap by the time he's there. Which is like $850-900K in 2022.

Will he kick goals, kick for territory, organize. Plenty of unknowns not usually associated with a marquee half

Felt the Tigers pack underperformed last year but definitely have the names locked up through 2025 to provide him front foot ball

don't rate him but won't begrudge him getting his bag

Not sure Tigers pack did underperform to be honest if you look at their underlying numbers around yardage and play the balls in good territory they weren't a side who were short of opportunities. It was their inability to create points not their ability to get the ball to the right end of the field that hurt them.

They ranked 4th in the comp for play the balls in opposition 20 but last for linebreaks and tries created. The inability to score a try does inflate a teams play the balls in the oppositons 20 but even if those numbers levelled out a bit it's still clear getting the ball into good positions wasn't a problem.

I don't think they will ask him to organise the side to be honest but they're going to have to work really hard on finding a good 7/9 combo to support him in that area. I like Sezer and Korisau but they will be 32 and 33 respectfully by the time he arrives next year.

Hosking --> Raiders immediately on a 3yr deal.

TPJ at Broncos training lol, probs just visiting the boys though.

Thanks Magic for those numbers, possibility they could get better then? Definitely remember Klem and IPap not being at their previous seasons form (most likely linked to new playmakers) , but your numbers would suggest others made big leaps ( i was impressed with big stef)

Yeh I don't think Papalii and Bateman ever really hit their straps in attack at the Tigers, only 5 linebreaks between those two is horrendous but more a reflection of the style of play Sheens/Benji had them playing and the quality of the halves combos they had throughout the year IMO.

Will be interesting to see how they go running off someone like Sezer who does play more direct into the line.

    Will do well under Stuart.

I'm saying 10+ tries by end of season.

Melborune getting Blore in return for Olam is such a pass take.

Every other club with no doubt in my mind would've released Olam months ago yet somehow Melborune have managed to swindle a swap deal and not only that but pick up Blore, a highly rated young forward who in 2023 seemed to finally be over his injuries.

Broncos should sign him on a min wage deal with clauses allowing him to box whenever he wants. Good bench forward even at 75% effort.

Blows my mind that fittler picked him in origin just last year

Was a complete gamble. Was banking on him having one of his epic performances, which he can have. His base-line is pretty low however, and his floor is literally 6-feet under.. Horrible selection for an origin game.

His opening stint was pretty good, tbf.

“Looking at our group, a few guys right at the back end of their career and over the course of the next 12 months or next two seasons, they won’t be here for a number of reasons and we needed to make a shift in that regard so that we had enough time to give the support that Tommy and Reubs need to develop into the best captain they can be when all that experience around them is gone.”

Crazy thing for Payten so say given Taumalolo is only 30 and still has 4yrs left to run on his contract unless there’s something we don’t know…

Carter Gordon from Rebels/Wallabies has signed with the Tits. Haven't followed Yawnion in years, had a look at some highlight vids to get an idea of what he's like. He'll go alright I think. He's a big 5/8.
