I'd love to be able to see when an interchanged happened, and who went on for who, etc, if that's possible.
I'll make a deal with you - we'll use .NET, and I'll handle anything you come across that .NET gives you the shits with. Well, except the lack of watch-breaks, because that really shits me as well.
FTR, I don't know what goal line blitz looks like, but I was meaning something like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeWA3iK94hI
I'm liking Ged's thinking in general TBH. I think the output is fine(ish) but what would really enhance RLSim would be the allowance for more tactical naus when selecting teams and developing gameplans for playing against certain teams.
There was an online nfl sim with a similar feature to this where you chose something like 'only attempt feildgoal (in nrl case it would be feild goal/penalty or something) if inside *number here* metres. Could work <_<.
For tactical maybe you could give each captain 2 chances to use 'game of the season' where they play above their usual performance, most captains will use it for a rivalry or a game against the top teams. Of course these could only be used during the regular season.
You can set a watch, but you can't make it break when the watch changes. Well, not from what I've seen anyway.. you probably can somehow; I've never looked it up.
On GLB it shows a play by play of each play, and you can choose to 'watch replay' of that play, and each thing shows a little 2d animation thing of that play involving with circles >_>.
Just show the man a real goal line blitz replay. http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=518180&pbp_id=4484434 <_<
Setting defensive formations, ala corridor defence, headless chook chase defence, have the lock or one of the backrowers as a rover.
It's pretty similar but the dots have the player positions (abbreviated) in them. Like there's the dot which resembles the Quarterback and it has QB written in it. And when you hover the mouse over the dot it shows the players name.
My original plan for 2D viewing was using a 'replay file' that saved along with the results, and then have a program availible for download that would show this replay to anyone who wanted to watch... This way GYR could release the replay first than later on the result for those who didn't want to watch.
I don't get why or how you'd use a secret tactical option before a game, i.e different styles of attack or defence. Basically means you can say you want to be more attacking or defensive this game. So if Team A chooses to be aggressive and Team B chooses defensive, they cancel each other out. If Team A chooses aggressive and Team B chooses aggressive.. obv, they also cancel each other out, etc. How would you do it?
