No depth makes the WC a bit lifeless??? Thoughts??

I'm just glad that Lebanon will probably qualify for a World Cup. The last 2 World Cups Lebanon have failed to qualify despite not losing any of their matches. Lost out on points differential in both the 2008 and 2013 World Cup qualifying tournaments.

  5. RyanG R Gee

Really hope (but doubt) some of the latter stages of qualifying tournaments will have television coverage or at least a live stream here in Aus.

  6. Fiery GR Smith

A bit hard to get excited about a tournament that is still 2 years away tbh.

    But New Zealand will win.

bit fucking retarded having 3 shitcunt europe sides and only two teams from the fob area + png imo

  8. RyanG R Gee

I made the thread now mainly for the qualifiers. Latvia vs Spain is just over 2 weeks away and the European Shield tournament started last year.

    European Shield Standings

    <table class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"><tbody><tr> <th>Team</th> <th>Played</th> <th>Won</th> <th>Drawn</th> <th>Lost</th> <th>For</th> <th>Against</th> <th>Difference</th> <th>Points</th> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">[IMG] Serbia</td> <td>3</td> <td>2</td> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>91</td> <td>40</td> <td>51</td> <td>4</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">[IMG] Russia</td> <td>3</td> <td>2</td> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>62</td> <td>46</td> <td>16</td> <td>4</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">[IMG] Italy</td> <td>3</td> <td>2</td> <td>0</td> <td>1</td> <td>82</td> <td>75</td> <td>7</td> <td>4</td> </tr> <tr> <td align="left">[IMG] Ukraine</td> <td>3
    </td> <td>0</td> <td>0</td> <td>3</td> <td>44</td> <td>118</td> <td>-74</td> <td>0</td></tr></tbody></table>
    Remaining games:
    Serbia vs Russia
    Italy vs Serbia
    Ukraine vs Russia
    Ukraine vs Italy
    Russia vs Italy
    Ukraine vs Serbia

Seems highly unlikely that Ukraine will be moving on to the next stage. Surprised Italy are only 3rd, even if they are playing without their normal slew of NRL heritage players who didn't get picked for Australia.

I think the problem with those regions is that they really play fuck all games outside of the World Cup. The European teams while not as good actually play a fair amount of matches.

  10. Fiery GR Smith

Good call. I might take some interest now.

  11. Cribbage RG Cribb

Samoa and Fiji auto-quality though and aren't a part of that so it's not as silly as it sounds.

I reckon Ireland, Wales and Italy with all the heritage players they'll be able to stick in will be more competitive than the Cook Islands who will probably be the team to miss out.

  12. Benny BS Read

I skimmed the thread and missed the fact those two auto qualify all good then

  13. Callum CJ Laing

Scotland being in already is awesome. Really enjoyed watching the last WC.

  14. Cribbage RG Cribb

I definitely enjoyed willing thousands off them. Best team.

  15. Callum CJ Laing

Does 14 teams mean they'll have that odd cross group fixture again?

  16. Lukic L Popovic

haha Serbia making the world cup would be gold

  17. Benny BS Read

    Lukic for the centres

  18. Jimmy J Read

would shippy play in the us side again ben?

  19. cloughie09 TJ Clough

cant wait for the qualifiers to start up again, some of the lower ranked teams are starting to come on nicely in terms of quality, will be great to see some new teams in the WC, although would like SA and Lebanon to both be in the tournament, along with two from the americas.
