Nightjars and owls have been regarded, certainly in a historical context as being of exceptionally similar morphology and whilst not directly related, are a prime example of similar evolutional pathways for two unrelated families.

 

They're a nocturnal bird whose behaviour is analogous to that of an owl and thus the comparison is not unreasonable. Frogmouths are in the same Order as Nightjars - an Order traditionally known as 'Nightjars and Allies'.

Nah. He'd be right at home. As long as he had his computer and a hard drive just about to break down and there were a few Kentucky Fried Insects around.

 

He clearly likes the dark, so I think it's the eyes that are particularly comparable.

 

You might think that, but the gaping mouth is certainly more accepting of bucket loads of KFC and Rib Runner.
