Without the raw numbers this is pretty meaningless.

    lol what?

  3. Number 11 CJ Downes

So the total first round attendance to all matches was the lowest in 10 seasons apparently.

  4. Rocks DN Boland

Bulldogs raising season passes 50% cost them 2 attendee's.

It's not that surprising when you look at the fixtures though. The average of each respective fixture is actually up in most cases.

News Ltd just love to jump at shadows. If it's still the case in 5 rounds time then it might be something worth talking about.

  6. Number 11 CJ Downes

Yeah, suspected as much considering there's always been a first rounder in Brisbane in recent years which would consideraly boost the overall total.

Playing games in Nth Qld, Cronulla & Penrith certainly doesn't help.

I don't know what News is saying but if they're contending that this is a sign of things to come, I think they're 100% right. Could be a pivotal season in terms of bums on seats IMO.

    Based on what?

  10. AVA T Delonge

I can get you free tickets if you want.

I think it's a general trend. People I talk to seem less and less enthusiastic about watching footy in person. Ticket prices certainly aren't helping.

Given the past few seasons Brisbane, Nth QLD & Gold Coast have had that's really not surprising. I wouldn't call it a trend though.

Despite labelling themselves the most passionate supporters in the game, QLD clubs are just as vulnerable as any to crowd drops during bad seasons.

Actually a lot of these people aren't QLD club supporters.

Ticket prices are continuously going up for Suncorp, fuck that jew hole.

I don't know much about the numbers but since the NRL's defence has been "look at the blockbusters we've got coming up" I'd be interested to hear an explanation of why Souths vs Easts got 27k this year compared to the 36k it got last year.

And from the numbers I've seen, it's not a drop of 700 per game in Rd 1. It's several thousands. Perhaps my numbers are off though.

Homebush isn't the geographic home ground location for either side, Moore Park is.

  18. Maroon_Faithful M Faithful

    Ah, of course.

Didn't the A-League get bigger crowds over the weekend or something?

  20. GYR DW Lewis

Yeah it absolutely bemuses me. The best explanation I can come up with is that the game was at ANZ which is a bitch to get to. It's a school night and the game ends at almost 10pm. It takes at least another hour to get home so it just isn't feasible for families to go.
