The top 20 players from this year so far

Disagree entirely. As good of a combination as they were, Prince needed to step out of Marshall's shadow if he wanted to be noticed by rep selectors. Even if Prince had set up four tries and Marshall one, the attention was always focused on the latter.

At the Titans, they've now settled on a good, well-rounded squad and I think it suits him well. He's got the likes of Rogers and Campbell to take the pressure off creatively, some solid backrowers in Mini, Harrison and Laffranchi to help him out in defence, and a solid if unspectacular backline for him to work with.

  2. Old Mate M Perry

It'll seem like I'm jumping on the bandwagon now but I believe basically the opposite of this.

  3. Lukic L Popovic

In terms of general football success, he would've been better off at the Tigers, as far as rep career then yes the Titans.

If he had stayed and played whole-heartedly at the Tigers, he would not only attract other talents but he'd lead the team as well. The Tigers who had a young, developing squad would probably have been a powerhouse today instead of the shitbox team in is at the moment.

At the Tigers he would've been generally in the same sitation.

A solid pack of Galea, Galloway, Heighington, Payten. Farah, Marshall and Hodgson to take the pressure off him offensively, a solid backline with Tuiaki, Lawrence, Collis etc.

I maintain my statement that the Tigers were probably better for him, but yes, in terms of rep football the Titans were probably better. Of course the $$$ Would've been better as well.

If he'd stayed with the Tigers, I've no doubt they would've had to offload either Farah, Marshall or all the other players you named. His decision looks pretty justified when you compare the two squads at the moment anyway.

  5. Lukic L Popovic

Not really, depends how much he'd want.

Morris is currently on around 300k or so and was supposedly our Halfback saviour, our Cooper Cronk. We all saw how well that went :sneaky2:.

Prince would've costed around 400k or so, so getting rid of J MO and maybe another half player like Payne and we'd easily cover his cost.

  6. AVA T Delonge

The Tigers would have lost the likes of Hodgson earlier with the cap being filled up.

I pretty much disagree with you anyway.

  7. Magic AJ Parker

I got a feeling Prince is on a bit more than 400k anyway. Don't think Titans have the same salary cap as everyone else, not for the first few seasons anyway.

  8. Stormer BH Borisc

I dunno, stats and all can say that Smith has played really well but he's only played well in the Cowboys game. Every other game he has been looking very lackluster and not very sharp. Especially in the Panthers and Titans game. Adam Blair our best this year

**** Lukic has been talking out of his arse in this thread...

Sorry, I'll stop copying you deary.

Prince WILL have more success at the titans than Tigers... When the titans have success, it will be the Scott Prince show.

When the Tigers have success, it will be the benji marshall show. Even if Prince was still there, he'd be playing second fiddle in a side that is at the moment worse than the Titans

  12. Julian BJ Taylor

Harrison has not been one of the 20 best players thugh.

    AWTA 100%

    I agree with him.

    Agreed.

Could not disagree more. Prince has so much more natural ability IMO. Thurston seems very mehodical and mechanical. May be a better all round player but doesn't have the ability of Prince.

Hasn't really had the chance to be.

  13. Old Mate M Perry

Thurston can pull off that linebreak or pass when needed, if anyone seemed more mechanical I'd have thought it would be Prince.

  14. Alec AD Funkotron

    Yeah, agreed.

Thurston definitely has more natural talent from what I've seen. He's faster, has better footwork (though it's not like Prince's is bad) etc.

But like I said, the main reason why I rate him higher is for the same reason I rate Hunt higher than Slater. Unlike Prince, he actually delivers in all of the big matches, which are the true test of how good a player is IMO.

2005 grand final, remind me who won? 2008 WC final, remind me who won?

Even in Origin, Prince has only been first choice halfback once, and he started alongside Chris Flannery in the halves for that game. Coming into the side in the second game or off the bench can't be the easiest thing for a dominant halfback to do.

What does that have to do with how well Thurston or Prince played? IIRC, Thurston actually played pretty well in both of those matches. In 2005, the Tigers were just on fire at the end, and in 08 it was Slater lolz.

Yeah, that was in game 1, 2004. He was still the first choice halfback in the next two games alongside Darren Lockyer and then in the last two matches last year (he technically wasn't the first choice halfback, but he still started there).

    Noticed a little typo there.

    That seems about right.
