When it comes to the likes of Pink Floyd, lots of people tend to favour Dark Side of the Moon album, I personally preferred Wish You Were Here and Animals.

Yeah...my post seemed a bit narrow minded in hindsight and didn't really convey my point. I prefer bands a lot more off the middle of the road than Muse and Coldplay....but they sound good to me and I like them. Pisses me off when people call them shit and use terrible bands to compare them with.

I play Wish You Were Here note for note on the guitar. It's also the only song I can sing and play along to at the same time :ninja:

Dark Side Of The Moon is definitely my favourite Floyd album but I know a lot of people who rate The Wall as their best.

I really like both Muse & Coldplay. Don't understand all the hate.

Yeah, I rate The Wall as their best album. Love the concept of the album.

    lol awesome stuff.
Dark Side is no doubt a legendary release. The Wall I like as well but not as much as Wish You Were Here.

Not entirely true. I can do Over The Hills And Far Away pretty well and sing along but struggle a bit with the lead break. Have always struggled with the multi-tasking of singing while playing....which is why I have only ever been an armchair rockstar

    ^^lol fair enough then.
@ Crowley and anyone I also wanted to add what did you think of the Floyd psychedelic albums of the 60s??

A saucerful of secrets. Love Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Remember a Day and Let There Be More Light from the album. Only heard, See Emily Play from The Pipe at the Gates of Dawn.

Which of those bands is the one you're in? Can you link me to some of your tunes somewhere? Or maybe give me some idea of what you sound like. Not gonna come along if you sound like a cross between Enigma and Napalm Death, for example.

EDIT: I'm guessing your act is Secretive George as they're down as Melbourne?

If Muse had someone else sing their songs I'd probably rate them, as it is I get sick of hearing what strikes me as a whinging pom making his voice bounce up and down.

The absence of any Rock and Roll makes this thread a fail. People like Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry were (and are, in Jerry Lee Lewis' case) phenomenal musicians, performers and artists! They really put their heart and soul into the music, and couldn't give a flying fuck as to what people thought about it. Rock and roll, and artists like the ones mentioned really changed music and popular music. They had fun producing whatever the hell they liked, and weren't fussed about the amount of records they sold - they just enjoyed what they did.

Love Coldplay too. Can't stop singing "paradise", and I love the music video to it too.

Check out Peponi the Swahili version of Paradise on youtube

I'll put that on my list of things to do tomorrow.

Where was that recorded? Seems a bit like the melody is really aiming for an epic sound, the vocal line a little more somber but the drumline a bit strong as if each part of the sound is trying to be something different.

Not a bad effort though, can certainly here influences of bands like seekae. Been getting a bit of a little cult following around Melbourne I'd imagine?

Reminds me a bit of The Terminals, though not entirely sure why.

I like his voice. Has great range and part of what makes them an excellent band. Know what you mean though...but at least he doesn't trill.
