Would SBW have become an immortal?

If he hadn't left? And leave again.

No way in hell. Cunt doesn't play origin to begin with so huge * immediately even if he'd carved up at club level consistently. Bloke was struggling to string a season together when he dogged the dogs.

I think he would've gone down as the best modern forward by a comfortable margin.

Considering half the shit players who get to play origin I'd say playing and dominating internationally would be nearly worth as much.

Fuck off if playing guys like Thaiday, Reynolds, Hoffman, Teo'o, Taylor, Hopate, McQueen etc is the be all and end all

  5. Julian BJ Taylor

    Lol.

  6. Cribbage RG Cribb

Is this what he did though?

I suppose you could say that if he didn't leave rugby league he'd have had more opportunity to do that, but hmm..

Wasn't directed at SBW more so the rugby league community outside Australia.

Cunt was struggling to string games together due to his knees when he said au revoir if he didn't get the chance to hang out in the backs and get hisbody right he may not have got where he is now....

Isn't the immortal status only reserved for Australian players ......?

Is Lockyer next in line? They better never make Billy Slater one like the 9 commentary team have mentioned a few times.

  11. Andato BJT Manera

I would say so as it may be a bit odd to go back to someone like Meninga

  12. Rocks DN Boland

This right here. He was winning games by himself before he left. Can't imagine how good he could have gotten in those middle years.

  13. Julian BJ Taylor

    Agreed.

Apart from Tunza, Lockyer is the best player not to be an immortal. Must be next.

    Clive Churchill*
    Bob Fulton*
    Reg Gasnier*
    Johnny Raper*
    Graeme Langlands *
    Wally Lewis
    Arthur Beetson
    Andrew Johns

Origin wasn't around then. Origin is now the highest level. Those 5 dominated the highest level of their day.

  17. Magic AJ Parker

And like those players SBW is just playing the highest level of footy available to him?

  18. Magic AJ Parker

I've thought about it quite a bit in the past but don't know if he'd still be the same player had he not gone to Union.

Can't say with any conviction either way.

His season last year is the best I've ever seen from a Rugby League forward.

  19. Boobidy BJ Gemmell

    Has he dominated it?

  20. Magic AJ Parker

Nah, hasn't played long enough, true domination is great performances over a significant period of time. Which is why this hypothetical thread exists....

Although you can't say Johns & Beetson dominated Origin so that's two more asterisks.
