Exactly, his rep record is poor but unless we leave ourselves with either a very long tail or Perry as our 5th bowler, he pretty much has to play. At least until someone like Shri makes regular contributions.
Lordeman is well entrenched in reggies and who the **** is kickatinalong? Another reggies option. I mean, come on. Devonshire's a far better bowler than Robertson.
I guess the only other option possible would have been to play a pure bowler instead but then Devonshire might have still made it over Hallett cause of his batting? Even if you did this it would mean no room for error in the batting department from the top order.
Yeah. Hallett would make way for the extra bowler if it was used. Then you might gamble on Perry as ya 5th bowler given the supposed better bowling amongst the top 4 bowlers. But, the thing is, Hallett bowled pretty well this series.
Lordeman is very unlucky to not be playing firsts. He got caught behind some good bowling options (as a result of the Stars collapsing) last season which never saw him get a good chance to shine during the later part of the season. He would complement a fair few teams though and his bowling average in ALC last season shows that he wasn't going poorly. IA Ryabovol may be a bit past it now but he has a great origin record and his bowling in the ALC is top notch.
Robertson's a batting allrounder though. He averages 36 with the pill in ALC for the season. How on earth is that a better option than Devonshire?
I mean, I could see an argument for errors in my selecting but not the ones that are being brought up. Very odd.
Because Devonshire averages 61.11 in BS and 44 in his career. Robertson moves to the Vipers and he could be playing firsts.
Nah. That's not the right way to go about it. Perry's had outstanding form for seasons on end and continually fails to deliver. When that happens, changes need to be made.
yeah c'd. Gee was mighty unlucky to miss out though and probably should've got 1 match but in the end he missed out due to selectors preference.
At the same time though changes need to be made if the same or similar teams being selected continue to fail.
Robertson wouldn't make the firsts team at the Vipers. You're on drugs if you rate him as a better option at 7 than Devonshire.
Nah. Ya see, that argument's stupid. Gee's continually failed. I felt the need to give Perry one last series to breakthrough in his prefferred position. He failed and now we'll more onto Retzel, in all likelyhood. Man and Gee both average 25 in origin from about 10 games each. Retzel averages 33 from 5. He's the next in line and would allow us to run with a much better balanced side with Manera at 3 and Downpipes at 5.
It depends on the balance in the team. He wouldn't make the Vipers team because Devonshire is there to bat. He would fight for Storer's spot. But for Qld we need somebody who can bowl.
