I'm just not quite the natural I was hoping to be at the bass. Think I'll put learning songs on the back burner and learn the scales inside and out over the weekend.
I'm probs about the same but I'm going to just get a small bunch of songs and play them over and over.

Also how frowned upon is it in the Bassing community to primarily pick with your thumb? I want to use my fingers and normally use my middle finger on the G string, but I broke my had years ago and shorted my right index finger by about a centimetre, meaning the tendon is a bit gimp and it lags a little when my brain tells it to do something.
Thumb plucking is really only used in certain styles such as reggae but whatever floats your boat. I'd imagine it will give you a slightly mellower tone and you probably won't be able to play as fast or hard either.
Yeah I'm still trying to master the fingering, and pretty quick with the old thumb. Funnily enough I learnt a few bob marley songs over the weekend.
Given it a go, I probably had really shit technique but it was way too quiet. I've never played a fretless bass either so it was hard to know where the notes were. Also I'm not sure if what I played was a cello or a double bass. It was bigger than a cello but it had a bow. Probably a double bass but someone just put a bow with it thinking that it was a cello.
