I'll probably go with whatever fits my rolls. Although I am really tempted to play a warlock from my reading of the PHB so far.
Ritchie, I'll probably drop one of your 10s to an 8. Will see after Bots rolls again. Going to offer you a free reroll too if you don't like the distribution.
Nah I'll take the 18. No problem dropping INT/CHA to 8 if needs be. Will most likely play a cleric. Druid isn't my style. And nothing else really fits.
Ritchie gets 18, 13, 11, 10, 10, 8 Bots gets 14, 14, 13, 13, 13, 8 Bots has a higher total but in terms of value, Ritchie's is slightly higher because 18 is worth a lot.
I'll probably be using most of the rules as they're laid out, but I'm going to be searching for common house rules to see what people think deserve special attention.
It's weird how low the stats are for balance in 5e. The point buy system in the phb doesn't even consider you getting above a 15. In 3.5e we rolled 3 stats and picked the best... but the stats seem to be so much more important in that system.
I think the idea is that if you were to go for an 18, it means you're going to have really low scores in multiple other stats. That said, the point system I'm using is slightly different from the one in the book which is why Ritchie is allowed to keep the 18
Well they still let you roll on it so I don't think the system is opposed to 18s. But getting an 18 is pretty unlikely anyway. I guess it comes from the higher stat increases from racial bonuses. Having a 20 stat at level 1 is op as fuck haha
I think its just an in character generation way to help new players play their characters and the dm to award inspiration
